lookie lookie (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8158403436&ssPageName=MERC_VI_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BID_Stores)

He also has some Donkey Kong 99 cart or other. Between this and the color copy insert Battle Mania (which went for over the equivalent of $70) he's making out rather well I'd say.

ebay dont care about his boots

yet if i listed something they would come down on me like a ton of bricks

thats what paying stupid fees on ebay gets you... total invulnerability to their policies..

Actually, dojar ain't measuring up to the big boys yet ... interfm had a copy of the selfsame Mario bootleg up recently and it went for £40 ...

Have ebay stopped jacking auctions for emulators / import converters / bootleg retro carts? I haven't had any one of these items disappear from my watchlist for some time now.

And I successfully sold two megadrive import converters (albeit thrown in with games, and very carefully worded).

I am still loathe to list such things, after having had my account suspended for attempting to sell a CD Plus (for the Mega CD) a while back. But now it seems that everyone and their dog are selling these!! And EVERYBODY is selling Saturn Action Replays, with apparently no trouble.

Anyone know what the deal is these days??

Probably the compulsive and insane ebayer policing these things is on vacation or something.

Now for the real question of the day ... does dojar actually make any money?

He constantly lists hundreds of auctions, often high BINs, which have relatively large listing fees and many of them don't sell.

Additionally, it seems that he gets a fair bit of his stock from ebay - and doesn't necessarily make very much money from them. Eg:

Bought by dojar for minimum $30 (this is for postage in US - he has obviously had it sent to the UK):

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8157697796

Sold by dojar for: £18

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8157697796

That means a profit of maximum £1 - £2 once fees are deducted, if that.

Other pairs of items that would make little or no money:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8155117923
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38573&item=8157996941

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8157699121
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3644&item=8150850324

Between things like this, and all the auctions / BINs that end with no winner I can't see him doing much more than breaking even really. Maybe it's just a big money-laundering scheme!! LOL

Good grief! Since when did dodgy pirate games, probably with virtually nil playability and badly hacked sprites suddenly become so desirable??

And all the high bidders are hard-core collectors, not dim n00bs as well!

"Beautiful Super Colour Artwork"??? Um .. not really! Badly scrapped together and cheaply printed tat would be closer to the mark ...

Wish I had picked up a copy of the Tekken hack when I saw it for about £20 ...

Dodgy pirate games have always been collectable. If I would have had a large amount of money, I would definitely have bought them.

I've won a few of his bits on the cheap, but the vast majority of his auctions are over-priced.
And is it just me, or does he seem to have a limitless supply of mint copies of Streets of Rage 3? I swear he's had at least a couple up every time I've checked his stuff...

They are honestly not too hard to find if you look on ebay.de - but he does seem to have them all the time. And he's even trying to get £70 for one, because it's teh RARE AUztrallian version :hmm:

Doesn't eBay rely on the users to report things that are not supposed to be on eBay? I imagine that they have a crew that has some basic searches that they perform each day or hour or whatever. But unless someone knows that a game that looks halfway decient and real in the photos is a fake, eBay is going to gloss over it and leave it. Unless you know that Mario Brothers was never on a Sega machine, you probably wouldn't even question the authentisity of this game. So unless someone reports it, it looks real enough. O_O
