Yes, once again we've got the scoop on a freebie for ya, this time not one but TWO classics, being offered by Sierra On.... erm, Tierra Entertainment. They've "remixed" these classics, keeping all of the original game intact but improving on the graphics and sound. The little bit I've seen so far is really nice!

You can download the digital music and speech pack too. And of course, you don't need a high-end PC to play these.

Go. Download. Re-live the classics.

cool! I have all the old "VGA" adventures like the last few Space Quests (god these need a remake), Day of the Tenticle. Leasure Suit Larry VGA. but none of them work on NT based Windows OS's :( Thanks for the heads up.

I was wondering when someone would post about these. I was going to myself, but for some reason I didn't. A little more info that I can provide...

The King's Quest 1 Remake seems very true to the original, but with the point and click interface of later KQ games. If I recall correctly there is no text parser. And like DP said they have the digital speech and music add on packs.

The King's Quest 2 Remake has a digital music add on, but no speech. The developers say on their weblog/faq that this is because of the increased dialogue. They have also added a whole lot more game wise to this remake, while retaining the original story and plot. They say it may even seem like playing an entirely new game.

I loved the old KQ games, though I did turn myself off of the first 3, since I started with KQ4.

I hope they redo KQ 3 as that was my favorite of the series(I too didn't start playing until 4, but went back later and played the first 3 later) All the spells and such were very cool.

I noticed they are doing QfG 2 right now. I can't wait for that one. Besides most of Lucas Arts games, the QfG series has to be one of my favorite PC titles.

Very cool link - thanks!

The timing is good too. I just found KQ V for NES at a pawn shop, and I picked it up for the same reason I'm downloading the game right now. But I don't know anything about the NES game. Is it the same idea? Haven't had a chance to pop it into the toaster yet...

KQ V is different from the two that are at Tierra. SImilar concept, but when it came out it was the first point and click of the series, rather than text based. King Graham is on his journey to find his family through a larger land in the fifth one, rather than trying to become King in the first one.
