I am looking for a nice one. Not one of those crappy plastic ones that you can buy in stores. Any suggestions? Thanks!

What about getting a crappy plastic one, and then modifying it.
They is a certain version that they sell for $99.99 that has two of them in it, and they are foam padded.
I figured, why not buy the cheapo $19.99 unit, and add my own padding to it?
Haven't tried it yet.

I was thinking something more along the lines of one of those metal ones.

I say get the Red Octane Ignition that sells for about $100 in most stores. If I can AAA a 9 on it, it should be good enough for anyone. Heh. Mine's been holding up fine since I got it over the summer. I think you can get protective covers for it too, in case you want to play with shoes.

I have the same as Dave. I have the protective pad over it, but I dont dare play with my shoes on. Its totally worth it if you really get into DDR. If you are an average player who thinks you will only spend a couple months with it and be done, I say get one of those $30 ones that sell on ebay.

If you are serious about DDR, http://www.cobaltflux.com/ should be the ticket. Great pads, but they do come at a price.
