Pretty clever actually, looks like the guy made a fake wall or something? That Circuit City has been closed for years, so it shouldn't have been too hard to hide out in there. Of course, he took advantage of living in a toy store, taking a bunch of toys and games. But if he never left the store, was he reallyt stealing it?
I used to go to these stores all the time as a kid. I was even at that Toys R Us last Oct./Nov. It's not the nicest part of town, but I never figured there would be a felon hanging out in there.

Damn, burn down the dentist's office to get rid of evidence you were there? Hmm, this guy's clever, that's for sure. :o

Did anyone else find this to be ironic:
A day after escaped convict Jeffrey Manchester was captured in east Charlotte, police released video of his elaborate hiding spot on Independence Boulevard.
Its shaped very much like a prison cell, but it looked like all the items you could find inside of a Toys R Us -- the furniture, the videos, the food products, Levins said.
So he escaped one prison cell only to build himself another one, except for the added amenities.
But if he never left the store, was he reallyt stealing it?
from the story:
. . . he found the hiding spot, which included DVDs, an Xbox, video games . . .
Yes, he took the items from the Toys 'R Us to the vacant Circuit City building.

Yeah, he had a nice little collection of action figures going there apparently. And what did he eat from the Toys R Us? Did he exist off a diet of pixy sticks?
Yes, he took the items from the Toys 'R Us to the vacant Circuit City building.
However, the buildings are right next to each other- IIRC, they may even been adjoined to each other.

Taking "I don't want to grow, I want to be a Toys R Us kid" to the extreme" at 11.
I got nothin'.
Very odd and stupid situation though.
the guy kinda looks like the actor in Rocket Man and Superstar.
Well, he could have well stolen some chocalate bars and soft drinks...
And thats why he had to go to the dentist, too much candy will rot you teeth.

I wonder what games he was playing on the Xbox LOL
Also, where did he clean up? I mean June to January is a long time to go without a shower, though I suppose he could have used the facilities at a homeless shelter or something. That guy, even though he is a criminal and sounds like he belongs in jail, is pretty damn cleaver.

More details revealed today in the paper...
- The dude got involved in a local church. Volunteered for Loaves & Fishes and donated to toy drives (wonder where he got the toys from). Gave his pastor the Seinfeld DVD set for Christmas.
- Worked out at Peak Fitness (maybe also used showers there?)
- Ate baby food and frequented a local Red Lobster.
- Was romantically involved with a local woman from the church, who will now apparently visit him in jail.
- Had a smoke detector in his hideout.

I would wager it would be any of the following:
The Great Escape
Prisoner of War
The Suffering
Grand Theft Auto III
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Manhunt

Hey, if Geoffrey Giraffe can live there, why can't Jeffrey Manchester?
