Someone said it was a launch model possibly, but i'm wondering if there is anything more to this. Worth anything? Can I play imports?
Or just... about how many were made?
I have one also and the 2 imports I own play fine on it.

The early Model 1's do that. An easy way to tell if you have one is the "High Definition Graphics" bar located towards the top of the console. Not sure about being to able to play imports, though.
It's probably not worth much more (if at all) than a regular Model 1, however. Around here, it's about 50/50 when I see any consoles.

A lot of the early imports are capable of being played on it, but after about 1992 or so, the imports will not work.

Yep. Here's a list of many of the games and lockout status:

the handful of unlicensed accolade and EA games will also only work on this model. you can also perform the infamous "cart swap" tricks.
however, not all of the models with "High Definition Graphics" written on them are missing the copyright screen. my genny 1 still has this screen, but has the extra text and expansion 9 pin port on the back.

As I mod them I'm finding this out too.

The original launch system is nice to have as you can play Accolade and early EA games (Starflight, Populous, Onslaught, etc.) without the use of a Game Genie. I myself have been trying to hunt one down for a while but gave up as there really isn't a nice easy "at a glance" feature to tell an original release from the 1991/Sonic re-release version. As for imports: I think you have to do a slot or cartridge mod (or buy an adapter) for them to work.
