I hear a lot about Saturn having the best D-Pad but theres more than one Saturn controller. Which one is everybody talking about? The one with or without analog or is there more than one model of each?

Im trying to choose my top 2 controllers so I can keep them with me durring my travels. Im thinking Ill pick up one of those Neo Geo 2 sticks when they come out. So Im trying to find a nice D-pad. Im thinking the re-released Neo Geo CD cont. or the Saturn one. What would you reccomend? It has to have a 6 button thumb layout and a great D-pad. As far as the analog sticks go, Ill keep my PS2 cont. for that.

The Saturn model 2 controllers is everyones fav.

I hate the first American model controller. The shoulder buttons were crap.

Saturn Model 2 is what all the companys model their game-specific fighter pads after anymore. Sammy's GGXX Controller for PS2 and the SF aniversary... deffinately the best controller design for fighting games (even though I still prefer a stick)

sega's dpads were always the best as they offered true 8 way direction, as opposed to 4 way direction of Nintendo and later Sony. But then Sega sold out and went to 4 way direction with the dreamcast... they also sold out with 4 face buttons as well.

I may be in the minority, but I like the DCs D pad. I play 2d fighters all the time with it.

I've always been fond of the 3D controller as far as 1st party goes. I do have a really great 3rd party one though. Interact's Eclipse Pad.

I know i will be in the minority but...

I have got all of the different saturn pads and i like the model 1 version the best because i like the feel of the shoulder buttons more then the model 2 one.

Model 2. I love that controller. I get aroused whenever I hold it. Hmm....maybe I love it too much.

Did any of you get a hold of one of the USB ones Sega released last year?

The Saturn 3D pad was always my favorite still is.and the 8 way d pad on the genny and sat was the best! it's hard doing a good "roll" with a nintendo or sony d pad.

I just noticed the american model 2 has a recessed 6 button layout while the Japanese version remains flush with the rest of the pad. Anybody have a preference?
