It is truely amazing to see how far the handheld market has come in only a short period of time. It doesn't seem like that long ago when the Game Boy Color was on top of the handheld world, and then the GBA was released my sophomore year in H.S, and I thought the graphics were incredible for a portable system. The PSP's graphics are awesome, I would have never imagined anything like this coming along so soon.

What happened to Medievil? O_O
I'm playing the original game right now for the first time and I sure hope there's a sequel! Argh.

It is insane how good the graphics are, I never thought a handheld would look so amazing.

I might be the only one, but when it comes to handheld gaming, I like 2D. I mean, 3D is awesome for consoles, but if it's in my hand, I'm happy with 2D

All trolls and fanboys aside, those are very impressive graphics for a handheld. Hell, they don't look bad for a regular console!

Disclaimer: I am not a fanboy of any kind. I love video gaming of all sorts regardless of manufacturer.
I may be in the minority here, but here it goes...
Actually, with what is shown there, I am not that impressed. I am not saying they are crap, but I didn't see anything that made me go "WOW." The majority of the games shown there are sports and racing games. Those type of games make me go "eh." Moreover, some of the screenshots show very jagged graphics (Dynasty Warriors, Metal Gear). Untold Legends looks good, as does Twisted Metal. Coded Arms looks promising. With all the sports, racing games available at release, it looks like Sony will be focusing on multiple player games using multiple PSPs rather than the single player experience.

Yeah even though the new FFVII and GTA games have been announced for it. ha

I read somewhere that the PSP is gonna have PS2-like graphics, and the DS has N64-type graphics. By the looks of those screenshots, that is quite accurate.

Those really are quite impressive. I know I'll end up with a PSP sooner or later, but right now I don't see any must-have games. Didn't capcom say they had a new Breath of Fire in the works for PSP? I'll have to see how that turns out. That might be the "killer app" for me.

The PSP has only a slightly slower processor than the PS2.
Wipeout Pure looks badass and I cant wait to play that baseball at launch! I hope they make a High Heat for it.
Compare the two Ridge Racer versions. LOL DS isnt looking so hot. Ive watched some demo videos of RR on PSP and the gameplay looks sweet. I hope it controls as good as it looks.

I am not sure, I have only heard news on the new Grand Theft Auto and the new Final Fantasy VII game, Crisis Core, for the PSP. Can't wait till those come out!

I would say more like PSone graphics, just shrunk down to a smaller screen. It's a bit much to say that those are PS2 graphics.

I also read that the PSP has a target market of ages 17+ and the DS is 17 and under! Works for me

I hoping SCE also put more time and effort into building something that doesn't break withing a year.
i think psp looks sleeker than the ds though. but, all i see is an upgrade in graphics. nothing amazing is happening with the psp.... its going to be the same kind of games i already own on a console. when a new system comes out, i want innovation. i want stuff i've never seen before. not to sound like a fan boy, but the ds has soemthing different. it might be gimmicky, but its innovative. thats why i see the ds doing better.
then again, if it's got "playstation" in the name, it'll sell

To be honest, I think they look great, but, they aren't PS2 quality -- not even PS2 launch title quality. Take a medium resolution image at 100% scale. You'll notice imperfections. Shrink that same image down 50% and it looks clearer and smoother. I think that's what's happening here. They're PS1 (PS1 at it's highest capacity) level graphics, but shrink it down to the 3.5" (?) screen and they look finer and crisper. Again, they don't look bad, but I think it's giving the PSP too much credit saying that it has PS2 level graphics.

The Psp may stand a chance yet against Nintendo's money maker Division
I own a Ds right now and its not so great the only thing i was looking forward was mario ds right away and let me tell ya the only challenge there was the controls in that game I've got almost all 150 starts in about 13 hours I'm already lending the ds to friends.
I may invest in the Psp in the future if some games come out for it I'm interested in.Seeing as how nintendo's pissed me off real good by planning to release Mario kart ds next december form last time I checked.
the only real games I'm looking forward on the ds are mario kart a bomberman 64 type game a good zelda game the last one I played and liked was OOT for N64 majoras mask and wind waker didnt cut it for me.
My friend said square might release the real FF3 on the Ds but I don't see that likly.
The Ds's touch screen aint gonna cut it for me yet some games i like better come out soon or its gonna happen to what happened to my gameboy color.

I so agree, don't miss the DS. It has some great games.
Anyways, I don't think the PSP can handle PS2 graphics, no way. But, it does have graphics that are much better than PS1 graphics. I mean, saying Metal Gear Acid has near PS1 graphics is insulting to that game! Saying it has close to DC graphics is a good way of putting it though.
And, FF3 is coming to the DS. Huzzah!

PS1 graphics/resolution wouldn't even matter. You don't need to up the resolution on such a small screen- go with clean effects and overall power. I suspect that's what it's going to do.
Any there is no need to up the size of the pix to see the flaws. Who cares? You can't up the screen size when you are playing on a mini-console. I don't have to look at an enlargement of the DS- I can see the jaggies at an arm's length away. Doesn't make it less fun.
Any battle between good and evil or Nintendo and Sony will be based on software. I for one don't know why I picked up a DS. Nothing worth playing right now. I could have waited for the next iteration in a year or two that weighs less and has good games.
At least PSP has some nice launch titles to come. A three month lead probably won't make much of a difference.
I'm waiting with baited breath for Untold Legends.

Those are some very impressive visuals for a handheld, you' can't deny that. I plan on getting both the DS and PSP eventually, but I will almost definately get a DS first for two reasons, 1) FFIII and 2) I don't trust Sony launch hardware.
The PSP may have inice visuals, but if the screens burn out or some other crap it isn't worth it to go through all the trouble of returning it or sending it back to Sony. I'll give them a year or so to iron out the problems (if any), drop the price and then I'll get it.
