My local game store has a complete copy as well as just the CDs. They think they can get $59.99 for it. I was thinking about getting it since everyone says it is a pretty good game. How much should I expect to pay to get my hands on a good condition one?

I personally paid 10.00 for an extremely mint/complete copy, but that doesn't happen all the time.

I'd say expect to pay about 30.00 if you stay off eBay. 59.99 is ridiculous if you ask me, and paying that price just let's them know that they can get away with that kinda overpricing in the future, so don't buy it from them.

I'd keep hunting and not pay over 30.00 for a complete mint copy.

$30-40 seems about right. The DP guide lists it as $40 complete. Stay away from ebay and see if someone on a collection board like this one or atari age has one up for sale or trade. You could also try trading sites like gametz.com and tradegamesnow.com

I would recommend not paying over 30$. I couldn't really get into the game personally...maybe I'll have to give it another go some day.

Speaking of them overpricing stuff... They have a sealed (i think, may be shrinkwrapped) Ogre Battle for SNES for $68.99.

I'd say that you can make a few bucks by picking it up for $59.00 and reselling it.

I bought my copy for $35 at my local EB. Actually a few bucks cheaper cause I had a Edge card. Complete and in good condition.

I'd love to know where people can find a complete and good copy of this game for less then that in this day and age. ;)

For the record, the Prima guide goes for big bucks....paid $25 for mine.

Are they selling the CD copy for as much as the complete?

It's a long shot but you could always buy the cd only copy and see if maybe you can complete the set later. Unless they want $60 for them, then you can tell them where to shove it.

I know I bought mine for $32 with manual, and a year later was able to find a box for free. But I don't expect it to happen to everyone.

Nope, the CDs are also $59.99. They are mostly overpriced on stuff. They have the Suikoden I complete and one with just the CDs for $39.99. :|

This is an RPG for the PS. A harder to get one at that and an Enix RPG. All reasons for it to stay high in value. Im not surprised to see them asking 59 for it though i'd not personally pay that unless is was in very good condition and I needed it for my collection and didnt feel like waiting for another copy. A find in the wild usually tends to run you 35-40ish (well the copies ive stumbled over).

But as we've said time and time again eBay is not the normal creature for games... it's really just good in helping you get greater access to more games, and compete with other crazies to try to win copies. Also alot of smaller stores are starting to use eBay prices as gagues towards their own pricing, so that could be a reason as well.

With the card, yeah, $32 is about what I paid for mine.

Well worth it. Great game, made by Tri Ace, makers of the Star Ocean games.

I'd hardly call $60 ridiculous (for a complete copy in good condition), considering that's the low end of the prices on eBay. You can't call those eBay prices overpriced if that's what people consistently bring the prices up to. Like it or not, that's the going rate for the item. If anything, the price in the rarity guide should be bumped up a bit (kevincure's list has the price at $70). You gotta be realistic here. If someone is purposely seeking out a copy of this game and they expect to acquire one within a reasonable amount of time (that is, not waiting to get lucky for years and years), they'd be looking at $40 AT LEAST.

And it's worth it, in my opinion, for Valkyrie Profile easily. Heck, it's well worth $60 too. If I didn't already have the game (I bought it when it was new for the $40 MSRP), I wouldn't think twice about going on eBay and paying $60. It's not like it's the type of game one would come across often in the wild. In fact, that one brand new copy I bought is the ONLY copy I've ever come across.

I bought 2 brand new from TRU last year for 19.50 a piece. I then sold them for $60 on ebay. I should have waited... or kept one for myself. I didn't know it was made by Tri-Ace! :/

I HAVE seen the game in the wild a few times over the last few years, but I consider the $35 I paid for the game to be a damn good price. I imagine it would be hard to find in the wild, though.

I paid $32 for it at EB, but I'd say it was worth twice the price. One of my favorite RPGs of all time, for certain. Although, I reccomend making DAMN SURE you get the good ending, otherwise, you'll be VERY disappointed.

If you check eBay, it should tell you what you need to know - Factory Sealed ones tend to go upto and over $100 - Usually between $70 and $110, but that may be due to English buyers importing...

It comes with a card?!??

No, no card.

Yeah, the good ending is a real SOB to get. There are three endings in the game -- the 'bad' ending, the 'normal' ending, and the 'good' one. You can only get the Good ending on the Hard difficulty level (I think? Or is Normal possible also?) and there's a number of requirements you need to reach. It's one of the games where I'd suggesting cracking a FAQ just enough to see what you need to. Not all the requirements are in the last chapter -- they are spaced through the game, so you need to go for it from the start. It goes a long way to explaining more of the story, etc.

I did it on normal. I later found out that you miss some cool story stuff if you don't play on hard, though. But I don't have the motivation to spend enough time to play through it again on hard. I just don't have time for RPGs anymore. :( But, I MADE time for this one. Trust me folks, it really is that good.

So you think if I find the guide and the game together for $70 or less I should buy it? ;)

EDIT: Nevermind... someone bought it... DAMN IT! They had LSSSC with the guide for $74.99. I thought that was overpriced.
