Its okay, as long as you have some fun games there, my collection is at least 30 times bigger, but I only play about 50 of the games or so... so as long as you play them all, its a decent collection. :D

HAHA I BETED U IN TEH CONSOL COLLETING GAEM IN 1/5 TIME!!!1 Oh wait, you've got WAY more SNES games than me. And you've got Goldeneye, no N64 gamer should be without it (unless they get motion sickness of course).
Looks pretty darn decent to me, sir.
Quality > Quanity
Plus if I was paying all my own bills right now I'd be happy to afford games at all :P

I don't have that huge of a collection myself either. I have alot of NES games, but besides that my collection is average at best. I don't have enough money to collect for 5+ different systems like many of the members here do. Even though I have around 350 NES games, I only play about 25 of them, so who cares how many you have, as long as you have the ones you like. :)

My friend, your Nintendo collection is huge compared to mine. I can count my NES carts on 1 hand. I have no N64 or SNES carts period. Of the Nintendo items I have you can add a hadfull of original Gameboy games and Gameboy Advanced and about 40 Gamecube games. (These I play with my son :D ) Ok, add the bountiful Nintendo Game&Watch style games I found today (See other post) and that is it. (I'm more of an Atari, Dreamcast, EPYX and Ultima collector) It's not quantity my friend, it's quality. As long as you enjoy them, the quality is there. Never (I say again, NEVER) belittle yourself or your collection. You are among friends here. Enjoy the ride. Enjoy the games. Who cares how 'large' your collection is. As one of my favorite authors once wrote "You have no obligation in life except to be true to yourself." That been said, enjoy. :D

Ok, so it's a little messy, but as long as you play it and enjoy it, it's all good.

Me too! I was overwhelmed at some of the collections!
Before I saw the pics on this site, I considered myself to have quite a large collection, but now it is only average sized.
But, bearing in mind that most of you have NES games and Atari stuff, whereas I collect only what I can get factory sealed...
Plus a lot of you buy pre-owned games on the cheap from car boots / flea markets, whereas I like to pay over the odds for a Factory Sealed perfect complete game!
It's all relative really i'd guess!
I may not have the biggest or best collection, but I am sure the games I do have are in a lot better condition than a majority of yours!
Still, it's early days, and I have plenty of free time and cash to carry on collecting...

Gruzniak, it's about having fun with games, sharing your hobbies and interests here with others, I think the only scene I've come across where people compare sizes of collections with no regards to enjoyment of games is Neo-Geo.
True, some fanatics here have 5000+ games, it doesn't mean everyone should be doing it, I have close to 500 and I feel I have more than enough.

Don't get caught up in the comparing game. I think it's pretty sad and pathetic when people start complaining that they have a "tiny" collection because they "only" have a few hundred games. A lot of kids out there would kill to have a couple hundred games. It's all relative. Gruzniak, you got a collection larger than a lot of gamers out there, so be proud. :) If you enjoy it and you feel it's a good representation of your interests, than it's a cool collection.
I've been playing games since I was 5, so that's about 17 years. I've acquired about 550 games since then, which some people around here acquire in just a couple years. Also, that's WITH my boyfriend's games included, so if I wasn't with him, my collection would be quite a bit smaller. A few years ago I used to write out by hand on a couple sheets of paper my entire collection. I think I remember when I first hit 100. I bought games so infrequently that I'd just tack new games onto the bottom until I had 10 or so, and then I would rewrite the entire list including the new games in their proper spots. I obviously can't do things like that any more, but trust me, we ALL had to start somewhere, even the people who have collections in the thousands.

ive never heard anyone on this site make mention of a collection being too small (or really nayhting deragatory). the folks here just like to see games getting played.
my advice to anyone is to post your pics! even if you have 15 games, we all like to see how youve got them set up(and whats currently in play).
just remember - whatever you think about someones elses collection, theres someone that will see your pics and think the same thing about yours!

Size doesn't matter, it's all about what you do with it...yeah, right.
C'mon, it is a nice collection, and you shouldn't feel inferior looking at some incredibly impressive collections. I have only 450 games, among them 50 NES and 50 SNES games by merely playing them, not systematically collecting. I feel comfortable with it, and go sometimes sporadically for more. IO never felt envious looking at great collections, I just enjoy them and wish I had more...that's it. I don't need everything, important is that you collect according to your preferences.
One thing is for sure, however: large collections doesn't mean that you play more games, however, they give you a lot of options if you want to research game design, compare genres over time, look at bad games, and much more.
I guess size matters after all. :)

not to be rude, but isnt envy wishing you had more(similar to those you are seeing)?

i have just over 350 nes games as well. though i only play a handful of them, im still on my way to getting them all. :). in 2nd is snes with 78 games. ive got just over 50 games to go til i reach 800 games, and i think thats a great number of games for only being 16 years old :)
by the way gruzniak, nice collection! quality > quantity 8-)

We all start from humble beginnings when we collect. Just keep doing it cause you love it and be proud of what you've accomplished in your 10 years.

Hey, I only have 130-something games, and I'm running out of room to organise them neatly. I used to have a shelf for each console, but that idea flew out of the window pretty early on.
Also, *steals your Pokemon Blue box* :D
I should really get around to taking some pics of my games, I last did it when I had about 70.
Out of curiousity, how many games do you actually have?

I wish i had a console when i was younger, i had to make do with ZX Spectrums and Amigas, Dont get me wrong, they are ace, but at the time all my friends had a SNES or MD and i really wanted one!

Nothing wrong with that collection my friend. As long as you're happy that's all that counts. And if it makes you feel any better my collection isn't that big either, and it's getting even small now that I'm selling my entire NES library.

Nope, not really if the wish is there independently what others have. I could have the biggest or smallest collection, I'd always wish I had more games; the measure tab is always myself, not others; and I never feel inferior or superior looking at other collections. I just enjoy them.
I have a LOT of vices, and I mean a lot, but envy isn't one of them. I'm just born with the lack of it.

This is truly great; I didn't think I could find such great understanding of the true meaning of gaming on a message board but the users here seem to have reached a level of gamerness rarely found anywhere.

That isn't bad at all! My collection is bigger, but for the games that I keep purely for enjoyment mine is about the same size as yours.
From some of the comments in this thread, I think you basically said that you were a teenager, right? I didn't really start 'collecting' games until I was 19. Before that point, your collection is probably four times bigger than mine was. Your NES and SNES collections still dwarf mine :)
Don't worry about quantity! As you get older and keep collecting, you'll just run into neat opportunities to get stuff cheap, and you might even end up with collections you hadn't expected. I now have a complete Dreamcast collection, and even in 2000 I had no idea I would decide to go that route. I'm very happy I did.
You have an excellent start to a truly memorable collection, and I can just about guarantee those pieces will become your favorite at some point in the future! I know my old 2600, NES and SNES stuff is some of my favorites -- I wouldn't trade them, even those in poor condition for the rest of my collection.

my collection is right around 450. before i found dp, i thought i had attained a collection that could not be touched. after seeing what everybody else had, it made me realize that it is not about having the most games, it is about playing the games you have and enjoying the hunt of finding games. i have only bought from thrift stores twice, but i do enjoy going in to see what they have. one time i got lucky and happened to come across some ps1 games, and the other time i bought nba jam:te for genesis.
even with what i have, i do not play even close to half of my games. i really enjoy collecting, but i enjoy playing much, much more. that is the reason why i haven't bought a ds yet. don't get me wrong, i want one, but right now there are not any games that attract my eye to the point where i would want to buy it. i could buy it for collecting sake, but i would never play it.
a few months back i thought i would be clever and boost my numbers up by 10 or 20 by buying a bunch of sports games. the problem i found out (which only i could find out on my own) is that none of the games i bought will ever get played. what is the point of amassing as many games as you do if you don't play them.
you have far more snes games that i do, and i am sure that you have more than many other people. as long as you stick to what YOU can afford and enjoy not only playing games, but collecting, than you are doing just fine. that was one thing i noticed about collecting. regardless of what many people think, most of the collectors i have talked to here only collect for 1 or 2 or 3 systems, and the rest they just pick up with extra cash. if you look at somebody's collection, they will have a massive amount of games for one system, and not many for the other systems. that is why i only have 10 games or so for some systems. i try to collect for every single system i have, but that has proven to be difficult.
like others have said, as long as the games are getting played, than you have a nice collection, plus all of the other collectors like to see what everybody is collecting. you could have a mint nes with mario/duck hunt, but people will still comment on the quality of your mint nes. enjoy what you are doing, and forget about the rich people on this forum (sometimes i feel i could use some of the money they spend, hehe)
