Well, first off equipment in WoW is a much higher drop factor then EQ. You can't give your lvl 4 druid your multi-stat leather armor because it will all say 35+ or 50+ to use. The stuff has level caps which is smart because it costs down on prices.

Collectors will love the auction system for equipment. It's like equipment Ebay.. you go to auction houses and set them up or BIN a robe instead of waiting to save 5 silver. If you win or someone buys your stuff.. It comes in the mail! every city has a mailbox and you can send people items or just notes threw the WoW snail mail system.

In parties good item drops are auto rolled on, no one can Ploot. grey armor is FFA, green and up is rare stuff.

There is a bunch to love about WoW, but I am a hardcore gamer so I do have some issues.

Problems with the game:

You play Allience and your friend plays Horde.. best friends IRL.. you two cannot communicate thre the game system or EVER trade items. So you have to window the game and use IM or headsets.

unballanced races and classes. This is something that I hate to say because so far the game is a blast.

Played an Undead priest to 18.. was fun but unless you play on a pure PvP (cheap/ganked ya servers) It can only slightly heal better then a druid, shaman or Pally and anyone can make heal mana potions with alchemy or first aid skills along with cooking. The Priest class was suppose to be like a cleric class but he can't use plate or chain armor just cloth and has massive agro from doing nothing more then a light heal on a warrior with 3 mobs *BOOM dead* And with no EXP or money/armor loses from death you just turn into a ghost and follow the tomb stone on the map. EQ needed clerics because ressurection was needed badly but in WoW it's an after thought and usually the Priest dies right away. BUT in PvP the undead priest is a god because he can dispell status debuffs and DOT's. I found the priest fun to explore around a bit but it's no fun until you are 50+ or play PvP 24/7

Now the Rogue class.. that is where it's at. 1-18 in a night.. no downtime.. just kicking ass.. All races or Rogues are way way to powerful.

This world is as big as EQ was the first month. there is an overload of content. the quests are engaging to the whole WoW PvP battle world (though the war area's are still closed for "ballance issues")

It needs definition of the classes.. The races are well defined threw the old games and books etc. The classes are almost overlapping in abilities. Druid and Shaman? whatever.. Warrior? Pally? one can use potions and first aid skill the other has spellls and potions.

No one is playing high level Mages, Warlocks or Priests for a reason. they don't have the AC to solo well and in groups they create all the agro no matter what (my Priest didn't even have to cast.. just being a part of the group made me the target because, I guess, the formula is AC/HP < then TARGET then switch TARGET.

There is no weather in this World.. EQ had rain and snow years and years ago.. Moons and stars, clouds that moved.. WoW has no weather except snow on the ground.. you are in a desert, you are in a forest. That is very dissapointing along with the horrible spell effect that lagged everyone out of EQ on Dragon raids :D

Blizzard has put together some great spripting and macro system.. people are already making there own Interface's and uploading them.

If only I could take what I loved about EQ and put a bunch of WoW in the mix. That would be a game.

Oh most fun class / race to play.. Night Elf Rogue.

Okay the horde and alliance are at best in an uneasy truce, but after hundreds of years of fighting do you really think they are going to be friends?

Some classes are unbalanced still, hopefully that can be fixed in upcoming patches.

Weather is on its way, and has been mentioned several times in planned updates. I can't wait because I hate not having rain in stranglethorn vale (a jungle area), or snow in alterac mountains.

I know there are some minor issues that can use a little tweaking, but me and the wife are having a blast playing.

Yeah most of the stuff you said are the reasons I haven't picked it up. If the game is still going STRONG (I'm talking EQ strong) in a year or two I'll pick it up. EQ was awesome because it was damn hard.

EQ was fun not because it was "hard" (IMHO here)

EQ was fun because you took months learning you Enchanter or Cleric or Monk.. You had to deal with crappy groups but every weekend or so you would hook up with some real EQ players who knew how to ROCK LGUK or T'Serrina's Tower.

The fun I got from EQ was those who knew "Raedon" the Dark Elf Enchanter, knew he was well qualified to stop 10 52 lvl mobs and keep em while keeping up Clarity 2 and magic shields and Haste Haste Haste.. :)

This is probably what I'm going to miss with WoW, because there is no one who is a master of their class because so many can do the same thing. at least Rogues can sneek and pick locks in WoW. The Priest and Warlock class are completely worthless. If it wasn't for all the cure status eilments (yes the Priest does not even have Cure Poison) the MAge would be a waste as well.

Yep class dependancy was a large part of EQ. I myself loved the End game (Plane of Time and so forth), where you needed over 60 people working together WELL to get stuff done.
