Is the Game Boy Player Controller officially available in the US???
And whats the deal with Hori's 251 GCN memopry card getting the official seal?

I'm not sure if you can get the controller in US shops yet, but it's available on lik-sang.com (though it's backordered right now). I'm not sure what the deal with the MC is, but maybe it has something to do with the fact that they have designs based on GCN games on them.

The controller is readily available in the US.

They will be making themselves a household name in 2005. Just wait and see.

You can get them shipped from the US here:

VGONetwork is going to be the official online distributor for Hori products for some items, so keep your eyes peeled as there will be polls about what items Hori should bring stateside!

I'm actually going to meet with the head of Hori USA in the next few days to get a concrete listing and preview of the lineup that we'll be distributing in the US. :stay tuned: :)

Memory Card is (as far as I know) a basic Memory Card. Its got a Platinum Color to it and comes with an Index sticker... As well as the Blocky Hori Logo printed at the "top" end. But the packaging has the Nintendo Seal of Quality, which I just think is pretty strange. Why would Nintendo (NOA at least) license a third party Memory Card that seems to be no different than the one they produce and sell.

Hori is seeking official licensing from both Nintendo and Sony for their basic peripherals.

You can expect to see fully licensed controllers/memory cards/arcade joysticks in the near future.

What if we care about the color of the controller? Your ordering page doesn't specify, though you show both colors.

So which is it? Blue or the black model?

All I'll say, when it comes to stuff on Nintendo machines, Hori are the only company I trust outside of Nintendo themselves (if their SC2 arcade stick and black SNES like pad I have are indicative of their current quality - they used to not be great, but have gotten excellent in the last few years).

Sorry for the late reply, Hori hasn't issued the press release yet(still setting up their US offices), but Indigo controllers can only be purchased through VGONetwork, that's the only color you can get.

For the Jet Black one, you can only find those exclusively in store at GameCrazy B&M stores.

Thanks for the reply.

Guess I'll break down and order a blue one since I don't have a GameCrazy in my area. :(

Both my Game Cubes, my controllers, memory cards, and the Game Boy Player are all black, so as dumb as it sounds I wanted to keep it that way since its neat that it all matches. :)

That's cool! I think I'll go too for that controller. That'll make it a bit better for playing the Zelda Collector's Disk, Sonic Mega Collection and Mega Man Anniversary...

Select Button... does it only work with a GB PLayer? Does it have any function in regular GameCube games?

I got a Hori control from a friend for christmas- let me tell you it is AWESOME for games that don't require a control stick- I have never been better at Soul Caliber 2. I highly recommend this control to anyone who wants a high quality control for their GC that feels like a Snes control.
