Don't think this has been done yet.
What system is it? Not the rarest but just the one that cost you the most or is just plain worth a ton of cash.
Share it with us and if you get something cool in the future come back and post again and keep this thread alive.
My most valuable system would probably be My Turbo Duo $175 but I also have a non working complete boxed Dina 2 in 1 console (Colecovision clone) that may be worth more, but I'm not sure.

Ditto, I just bought a modded one off of D-lite last week for about 250. Just wish I had one of those PC engine LT.

I guess that Famicom Gameboy SP sadly. After shipping, that thing cost $190.

Hmm, I don't know how much most of my systems are worth right now, but the most expensive one was the CDX.

Paid the most by a good margin for my boxed (bad box though!) Neo Geo AES Gold System, so it's a toss-up between my boxed/new Sharp Twin FC and my AES, by eBay prices anyway. Hard to say what the market would be for an Astrocade.
Many of my games are worth more than their systems (I've got what, 8, 9 Mega Drive systems? I just got another boxed Japanese MD system the other day, original style, so that puts me up to 3 boxed Japanese systems), especially in the case of U.S. systems (my enthusiasm for collecting US stuff is much lower, so my most valuable boxed system there would be the Neo Geo, followed by a boxed SNES Model 2 and distantly (this is being hopeful with regards to the value of a Model 2 SNES!) by a like-new boxed NES.
Woo, nothing like a good brag thread to take the wind out of you. :P
Also have a boxed Mega Jet (one of the three MD systems above), the PC-FX card for PC-98 computers, a bare demo kiosk Dreamcast unit from Maxlords, uh, some other stuff I can't remember...none of this seems to be worth much by eBay prices, but it's a bit on the rare side all the same. I have some stuff sitting in Japan that I tend to forget about as well, and some here that I forget about too (i.e. that Sharp Twin, never can remember I have it lol).
On the "WHY??" side, I picked up a small factory sealed case of Ash's Talking Pokemon units. $$ by eBay prices probably.

There it be. Most rare, I think.
For the most expensive that I've paid, I'd have to go with my import PS2.

Well I paid $300 for my PS2, so I guess it was the most expensive. Of the non-current gen systems, I guess my TG16 is worth the most. I'm not really into collecting rare systems.

My CDX or the consolized MVS 2-slot is probably the most valuable at this point. I paid the most for my Japanese PS2, though. It was $250, I believe.

I think it'd have to be my modboxm $290 or so. I've spent more on some systems but don't currently have them anymore, lol.

My brand new Turbo Duo probably qualifies as most expensive I have currently, but I'm pretty sure our family paid like $499 for the CDi we bought when it first came out. :embarrassed:
We got a 3DO near launch too and that was a pretty pricey system ($399 I believe at the time).
So either or.

Since I sold my boxed mint LT (with much regret) I guess the Panasonic Q takes the spot for another week (as I have to sell it to)... it's going to end up being my Laseractive.

I paid the most ($200) for my N64, Gamecube, and PS2.
What is worth the most? I guess the Xbox. How many systems are there that are really worth more than the new ones? Of course I know they exist, but I dont have any that I know of. My boxed toploading NES may be worth a bit, but probably not as much as the boxed Xbox.

Unfortunately not, it was still pretty sweet to own it at the time though. And I stand by Putt-Putt Joins the Parade (Putt-Putt Goes to the Moon is infinitely inferior).
The only console that we never we're able to pick up due to price reasons was the Neo-Geo AES. Most of our other systems were purchased using money from pawning/selling/trading our older systems (e.g. Atari 2600 w/ 98 games -> NES, NES w/ 72 games -> TG16, TG16 /w 14 games -> Genesis, etc, etc).
We probably could have gotten an AES during the CDi era, but at the time, we lived in Germany and had no practical means of buying it.
Plus, we sold the CDi on our parents by hyping the "educational" capabilities of the CDi (read: Compton’s Interactive Encyclopedia). Really, we just wanted to play Escape from Cybertron City and CDi Defender of the Crown for some, now unknown, reason.

The most i've paid for a system is $ 250 for the N64 the day it came out. I think my brother paid $ 300 for the PSX but I'm not sure if he bought it before or after the price drop so he may have only paid $ 200. All my systems I have bought used so the most I've paid for a system that I didn't buy new was about $60. It's a tie between my turbo grafx cd and my gamecube. I inhereted my Xbox and Ps2 from my bro but he paid $ 180 each. I think I paid $ 55 for my famicom disk system that I still can't fix.

Not including current generation consoles, I think the ones I have that are worth the most are:
PSX Debug Unit
Amiga CD32
I have lots of console copiers that are worth more than the consoles they sit on. :)

It's probably either my Virtual Boy complete with the AC adapter, or it's my Nomad, but someday I'm hoping to buy a new CDX, then I'll know for sure.

White Limited Edition Panzer Dragoon XBOX set (brand new, never opened and still in the Sega Shipping Box). I actually bought 2 directly from Sega Direct for a total of roughly 75,000 yen. Sold one of the sets for $850 US plus shipping. Worked out pretty well :D .

My mysterious white Intellivision, I guess.
Followed by Vectrex or Astrocade, whichever's worth more nowadays. I paid more for the Vectrex (which I bought online) than for the Astrocade (which I found at a thrift).
Other semi-valuable systems o' mine: Philips G7400, Philips VG5000 computer, Sega Saturn with region switch, A/V Famicom.

That all depends on what you consider valuable-
NES TOPLOADER
Famicom jr. toploader "new in box"
NES original " BRAND NEW IN MINT BOX"
SEGA NOMAD
SEGA CDX "COMPLETE IN MINT BOX"
ALL HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER
THEN OF COURSE ALL THE NEW SYSTEMS I BOUGHT BRAND NEW ON LAUNCH DAY

I have a New In Box Duo, that has only been tested once. New. New. NEW.
That and my boxed, with docs, modded Neo Geo AES Gold, with S-Vid, stereo, and socketed upgradeable BIOS.
$$ wise, those are the kings.

in monetary term it's got to be my Sega Wondermega - you know the one with motorized CD door and all? That bad boy cost me arm and leg to get it from Japan... Even my PS2 Test cost far less than that thing...

Probably my consolized MVS, Turbo Duo or PsyQ Saturn. I used to have a Pink HK Dreamcast which is the most I've ever paid for a system, but I traded it for the DUO, an Express and 10 games...
Cheers,

I'd give an arm and a leg to get one of those as well. Nice! I've seen some sellers asking ~$900 on eBay for one of the variants (I think/hope that would be the rarest one) in new/close condition.

Sega Wondermega is rarer of two. You can tell by their look since Sega Wondermega has white ring around the CD door while JVC Wondermega doesn't. JVC also made Wondermega II - you guys call it X'Eye in states - and that one is pure crap... :p well not really crap but it lacks almost all the cool features Wondermega is famous for...
$900? Wow!
Next time I see Sega Wondermega I'm going to pick it up to sell on eBay for sure... o_O;

You can have it mod to run JP/US Hucards.
D-Lite does the mod and I've done my SGX by him last year...

I was about to bust you on this. I picked up an N64 at launch and could have sworn that it went for $250 as well. I took a look at my N64 box and my jaw dropped. $199.99. Holy shit.

Probably the NeoGeo AES - paid €200. My Xbox was also pretty expensive, as I bought it for the release price iirc. My Vectrex cost me €240, but it had ~18 games and the carrying bag with it. And I paid €200 for a boxed white PC Engine w/IFU, CD-ROM˛ and a couple of games.

My Panasonic Q...traded a ps2, a xbox, and a gamecube for this 1 system...had duplicates of the systems so it was really no loss but add all that up and it came to about $550 or so at the time.
