What game system is most valuable to you as a gamer? and why? meaning it has the majority of your favorite games, your single favorite game of all time, the sentimental factor, or for any reasons at all like the feel of the control pad etc.
I have to pick my old stand by DC even though both the PS2 ( O_O I know I know) and the Xbox have become a Very close second.
I still play many of my favorite games on my venerable Dreamcast like Capcom vs. SNK , Shenmue and Streetfighter 3:third strike.
Even though my DC has MANY HOURS OF GAMEPLAY on it still works perfect.
I have always liked the control pad and even the VMUs are cool especially with games like RE3 and code veronica.
I do see my Xbox and possibly my PS2 taking over the throne so to speak especially if I go ahead and pick up one of those smancy fancy new fangled slim-lined PS2s x_x to replace my slightly aging original PS2.

Hmmm, that's a tough one. I own more games for my Saturn than any other system, and Love almost all of them. My Genesis was my first system, and holds a special place in my heart although my collection is small. My Dc is a system that doesn't get as much use and although I love the games, it seemed to be lacking a certain something that I can't put my finger on. My Cube collection is small but like the Saturn I love each game dearly. I couldn't choose which is worth most to me, but to randomly choose: Saturn

DC and Original Game Boy joint most valuable consoles to me.

Then Xbox, and then Neo Geo Pocket Colour

I will pick the SNES. This is mainly because of the many good memories that I associate with it. Couple that with all the amazing games it has for it, and you've got yourself a great system. Not to mention the great control pad and the durability of the console and games.

Some of my favorite SNES games include:

Earthbound
Super Mario RPG
The Donkey Kong Country Series
Chrono Trigger
Super Mario World 1 & 2
Kirby Superstar
Starfox

i agree I would put my Saturn up with the DC if I still had my original with all my old games oh how I miss Dayeeeetona! and Streetfighter Alpha 2 what a sweeeet 2-D system the Saturn is.
I do have a working Saturn that I bought at a thrift shop for a measly $6 U.S. but only came with a control pad so there is a possibility for to rise from the grave once again if only I could find some Saturn components and games in my area

I'll be the first and definetly not the last to choose the NES. It wasn't quite the first (intellivision) system I ever had, but all of the memories this console and it's library provided me are second to none.

I would choose my model 1 Genesis. I was a gamer back in the 80's but the Genesis made me into a hardcore gamer. Long live Genesis!

THE ONE, THE ONLY- RCM

The nes hands down. It was my first system I really got into, and there are hundreds of games on it I love to play. I still have my first nes console too, it has its own spot on the shelf away from the 10+ other neses i have :P

Coming in a close second is the N64. There are very few games on it that I haven't liked.

I have a lot of memories with the SNES since my brother and I got it for Christmas a long time ago, and I was always good at the games even at a very young age, especially Street Fighter. But after I got my Playstation 2 for my birthday, its my favorite console of all since it belongs to me and I have so many great games for it.

Hmmm...toughie. Honestly, I play a lot of stuff about equally. I'd say for sheer volume of games that I really love, a tie between the PS2 and SNES.

Coming in RIGHT behind them, the PSX, Genesis, and Turbo Duo. None of which are in particular order. I don't have ONE system that I prefer above all others though.

It's really hard to choose, but I'll go with my Amiga 2000HD. Still need to beat Lemmings and Cannon Fodder :)

Without a doubt, my NES. It was my first console and will always be my first love. If I could only hae one console for the rest of my life, this would be it.

Second would be my model 1 Genesis. Love that thing!

I gotta go with the SNES. It seems like every few years I discover a new reason to love the system, and the obsession begins all over again. Besides the great library of games, it's special to me because it was the very first system that I personally owned. It was also the first large purchase I ever made in my life. I didn't have much money when I was 11, but I saved every little bit of cash I got for my birthday and Christmas and such (I was never one of those spoiled kids that received an allowance all the time). That free Super Mario All-Stars deal came at the perfect time for me. I had been missing those Mario games my brother had on NES, and I only had enough money for the bare model SNES.

I still have that same SNES, and it still looks like new. It's not just the system in general that's special to me; it's THAT system. If I ever somehow lost that system or it died, I would be incredibly sad, despite the fact that I have two other SNES consoles I can use.

Other reasons why I pick SNES:

- my favorite controller EVER.
- has its own unique graphical and musical style that I find appealing.
- Super Famicom imports. Nuff said.
- often nice packaging for US games; outstanding packaging for imports.
- games stack well, hehe. :P
- really sturdy hardware.
- just about everything is awesome. :)

probably DC.... I love both of them dearly, (dc and saturn), but DC has the homebrew scene, which I LOVE.... I also love the fact that you can create your own games and burn them onto a disc and play them on DC.. (yes i have done it)

Saturn had nights, which is amazing, as well as an awesome collecting scene, and a ton of import games...

It's gotta be my PS2. How can't it be with the option of playing both my PS2 and my PS1 games!! The other reason why is I am a HUGE RPG fan and the PS1 has some of the best RPGs ever created IMO.

The NES is the only system I could possibly choose for this question. It was the system I grew up on, and most of my gaming memories are of my friends and I kicking ass at various NES games. I also believe it has aged very well considering how old it is. Almost all of my favorite games are on the NES, and it's the only system I collect for.

Gonna have to go with NES as well, as it was my first console and has more games I enjoy than any other system. I haven't really been giving it any attention lately tho, my DC and recently acquired PS2 have been getting all the play.

I can't say. I'd probably go crazy if I was limited to only certain kinds of games. The NES is good for some stuff, the N64 for others, and there really isn't much overlap in the classic consoles. Newer consoles have good games as well, but the focus just isn't like it used to be when you only had a 256K game to write :)

The NES. It was my first system and I have the most fun hunting for its games.

Based on the games I play most...this is my order for the top 5.

1. Sega Genesis
2. Nintendo Game Boy (original B/W)
3. XBox
4. Atari 2600
5. Dreamcast

I have to go with the modded Xbox, it's got every system on it!

The import-ready Saturn is a close second.

The most important system, though, is the NES. Although not the first system I got, it's the one that got me interested.

For me it would be the Saturn. I could easily pick 10 of my Saturn games and be very happy with those ten for a very long time.

Also, I like the idea that I could use it to browse the internet with a Netlink, keyboard and mouse setup. Who cares if it's only 28.8 dial up, at least it's something.

My second choice would probably be a Gamecube with Gameboy player. Sometimes I JUST gotta have a Ninty fix! :D

It's a toss up for me between the NES and Genesis. I could actually see myself with only these two systems. If I had to pick one I'd go with the NES but ask me next week and I might go with the Genesis.

I'm oddly surprised at how many people have said Genesis, but I have to throw my hat in that ring as well. I had an NES before it, but I still play my original Genesis I got in about '92 nearly every day. :) After that, I'd have to say my Cube, soley for Metroid Prime.

As much as I love my Mark III, I'll have to go with my double-switch modded Mega Drive 1/MegaCD1/Master System Convertor combo, for sentimental value & the fact that probably 80% of my gaming is done on it.

Because both are home to more of my favourite games than any of the others.

PS1 and SMS are tied for my top system. Some of my favorite games are on the PSX and I love my SMS because of all the cool games and accersories it has, and I'm a bigger Sega fan than Nintendo.

The DC and SNES would be tied at #2 because all of my favorite RPG's are on the SNES and the DC just rocks.

Being that I am a huge fan of both the Dreamcast and the Saturn, I am surprised to find myself saying that the SUPER NINTENDO is my most valued system from a gaming standpoint.

Odd. Just realized it.

N64 pobably got my most attention as an adult.

Amiga probably had most of my time as a kid

but my beloved videopac collection is the biggest pile of crap, but I love it, its pure nostagia, I remeber having the poster on my wall and dreaming that one day I'd get another game, christmas, birthdays...

Super NES, of course! Just about all my favorite games of all time are on it. Such as Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Super Mario RPG, Breath of fire 2, Illusion of Gaia, Megaman x, and even more.
