Good price for loose NES cart lots?

Im finding all kinds of loose NES carts these days but everybody wants $3 a piece. I can talk them down to about $2.50 a piece if I buy a lot of about 20 or so. Most are just commons but Ive read posts in here where people are buying loose NES carts for 80 cents. An 80 cent cart may be hard to find but would you still say $2.50 a piece is a little high for a loose common? Im not trying to be cheap, Im a new collector and I dont want to get screwed.

just check out ebay, you can usually get them for $1-$1.50 a cart

I am mostly an NES collector. It depends on wether or not the games have box/manual. I dont care about anything but the cart so keep that in mind for the following.

I find that anywhere between $2-$3 a game for commons to be the norm. Anything below $2 these days is hard to come by unless they are uber commons (ie: Ice Hockey, SMB/Duck Hunt, etc.). Generaly for a lot of 20 or more commons, I would not pay more than $2/game, but thats just me. NES is a VERY popular system right now and good prices are hard to find. When you crunch the nubmers a complete collection of NES games is gonna run you upwards of $1500 even at $2 a game so keep that in mind.

most good games will run you more than that due to popularity and most ebayers will stick with some steap shipping for a loose cart. once I paid $4 shipping and the game came wrapped in paper with like .75 postage on it. So I think you're doing fine if your finding games in that price range

Personally I think that $3 a game is a good deal as long as the game is in perfect mint condition. I will buy any game I don't have that looks perfect for $3. I don't know where people find games for 80 cents, because I have never seen a store that has prices that low. If you are paying 3 bucks a game, you aren't getting ripped at all.

I think that at some point us collecters can tend to be a little greedy. Let's be honest here, ANY game is worth $3.00. Maybe not if its your fouth copy of the game or if you're looking to resell them for a profit but for a person who wants a game to actually play it I think that $3.00 is a bargain for a game that originally sold for about $40.00

Also, we need to remember that Goodwill and other resellers don't price their games for us to make a profit, they price them so they can.

$2.99 is the most common price I've seen in my shopping. It's usually a fair price unless it's a really crappy, common game.

If you're talking lots, I'd aim for an average of 1 or 2 bucks per game unless there's really good stuff in the lot.

yeah, i have no problems paying $3 for an NES game. but if I were you, i'd take a glance at the entire lot and ask if I thought $40-50 was a good price for those specific games. i mean it could all be star voyagers and dino riki's and that would change my mind...or it could be zeldas and castlevanias and i'd snatch it up real quick...even tho all the games are worth $3 in a lot a peice...make sense? this is, of course, assumming you aren't trying to collect every single nes game.

If you can return to a place, check out the rarity guide when you're home and see if there's any good stuff. I'd say that few NES games are really bad purchases at $2.50, though...unless we're talking about SMB/DH.

2.5 actually (6.95 vs. 4.45), or 65% more than I do, which means that by the time you have been around as long as I have, you'll already be over 2000. I'm not trying to start shit, I just thought that his post was funny, because you do tend to start a lot of threads and resurect stuff from the dead, not that there is anything wrong with that.

$3 a piece isn't bad if you get to pick and choose. You can pick out all good titles Castlevanias, Zelda's and Rarities. Leave with junk he can't sell then offer a low ball price for the cheap games he can't sell. That's what I've done to aquire my 300+ NES games.

I found a local flea vendor selling NES carts $3 or 2 for $5 I raped him of good titles as he knows very little claims there is only 415 NES games. Took all the good shit that I'd miss if I waited (even got my minty Flintstones:SADP that way for $2.50). Eventually he dropped to $1 a game and a scored all his crappy commons I needed.

50 cents is my average per loose NES cart (only from thrift stores and yard sales, I don't buy them from EB or Gamestop). I just don't get excited when I see a loose NES cart going for $2 or more, so I only have about 50 or so carts in my collection. Also, I'm not as much a collector as I am a player per se, so I only try to purchase ones I might actually enjoy playing through.

Well, I find lots of good thrift games, but they're always $1.80. I will usually snatch any game at $2 or under. And averaging together the semi good games that I pay more for at places like Gamecrazy, my average price for a cart is around 2.75.

$1-3 I would say is common price reange for all commons, and depending on the common that can be a good deal. Games like Castlevania, Contra, Zelda, Mega Man are all considered commons, because there are so many of them, but because of popularity they often fetch $5-15 on ebay and EB/Gamestop, so finding them for $3 would be a deal.

If you're paying $40 for 22 games and there are some "popular common" ones in there than I would say it's a fair price. But if it's filled with SMB/DH's, Top Gun's and the like than I would say it's a bit high.

Yeah its a pretty common word. :D

Anyway, Ive printed out a rarety list so Ill carry that around with me. Everything is listed a bit too highly priced but it should help me on my journeys.
