Godamned its hard.
Amazing graphics though, and once you get the hang of it you can do some cool stuff have people gathering around the TV to watch you choke hold a guard and drag him to a dark corner to knock out.
About time a freakin AAA title for my xbox.
Gotta pick up another Game Cube for RE0 though.... :-(
Anybody else going through Splinter Cell?

I only played the demo, I haven't been playing alot of next gen stuff lately, I kinda got burnt out on too many rentals, and started pulling out old consoles, so....
When I played the demo though I showed my friend the part where you can do the splits. I shot out the lights, did the splits got the guards attention, and turned on the thermal goggles, my friend was just like WOW you can do that. I was impressed too, especially by the Chemical Brothers soundtrack can't wait to try the whole game out when I get my craving for next gen back.
*goes back to playing Road Rash 2*

It's the game that I BOUGHT my Xbox for. It was in my opinion the best game at E3 in May.
And yet, I haven't been able to get to it. I'm hoping to get cranking on Sunday. The game has a phenomenal number of things you can do, and I think it blows away the Metal Gear Solid series, doing things that MGS will probably do in a future installment. And the graphics... this is the game they should be showing on EVERY Xbox commercial if they want people to see what it's capable of.
I've been wondering why no one has posted about this game! Glad to see you're on it, Sothy.

Is the game a lot better then the demo version they have at wal-mart? I always have to fight with the camera. I get shot up before I even have a chance to have the camera view right. The animation also seems choppy too.

I've been watching my house mate play this for the last week, and I have to say I was really impressed! I didn't think it would be as good as the Metal Gear series but Joe is right! I did seem to get more involved in the narrative of the MGS series but Splinter Cell does seem to have loads more 'cool' things/moves to do! Didn't play/see the demo but the animation looks great to me!
Gonna have to tear the controller out of my house mates hands to play a bit of this mother myself! :D

I know this post is from awhile back, but I just picked it up for myself after Xmas (I don't buy myself anything just before, just doesn't seem right) and had to comment.
Fantastic game. *Definitely* better than MGS.
Why is easy. When I'm playing MGS I find myself looking at the radar to move about more than I look at my surroundings. In SC you only have a 'light' meter, which shows you how visible you are. I feel much more totally immersed in the experience, and you don't even need the meter all the time since it's pretty obvious when you're in the shadows.
And of course there aren't any freaking long videos as in MGS 2 (at least, not yet). That's definitely MGS2's worst feature.
Two very enthusiastic thumbs up from this gamer...

At first, I thought it would be a good game for xbox but after reading reviews from certain websites i decided not to get it because of its problems.

I would have to say the movies aren't the worst feature of MGS2, it's the complete lack of control of the camera that sets it back. Your running down corridors from a top down view, Your on the deck of a boat and can't look up at the next level, your forced to look at a radar screen in the corner you miss most of the game. They could have made this game the best if you had even the smallest amount of control. The funny thing is, i let me my friend borrow the demo disc to try Splinter Cell, since he liked MGS2 alot i figured he would love this. He gave it back the next day saying "it sucked." He asked "what's the deal with the camera? You have to look around." I said "well. yes, it's stealth, you look down hallways, around corners, up, down, maybe you want to shoot out a light or camera, ect." He said he didn't like it. He liked how MGS2 did everything for you. hehe i laughed and said "in that case, why don't you just have someone else play the game and you just watch?"
