I really liked that interview with the game's maker, it had alot of interesting things to say about how the price of games seem to be going down, while developers say they'll be going up.
He said alot of common sense things, like getting attention and getting the game out at $20 rather than getting destroyed at full price then dropping a few weeks later when nobody's paying attention anymore. Good stuff.

Thanks for the link (actually, links; there's an older article linked at the beginning of the article that's worth reading as a retrospective :)

THat's a cool little bonus, and nice price too. Here's hoping for a kick ass remake.

That was a good point he makes. If gaming becomes increasingly mass-market, then they will probably be able to afford the development costs with a greater number of sales.

I couldn't tell, but the screenshos didn't look to be what I want. Killing, and stealing drugs.

This is great. I really hope to see this $20 thing become a trend. Could you imagine if all new games were released at $20? What a wonderful world it would be.

Sounds a lot like the first NARC. Who knows what the cops in that game did with all the money & drugs they picked up. And you didnt exactly give the criminals due process when you unloaded rockets on them. Body parts flyin' everywhere and all. The horror!

A new NARC, huh? Wow, I can't wait! You don't have control over your own body, the government has every right to tell you what to do and what not to do. Murder the perpetrators of victimless crimes.

What's that you say? Violence as a result of drug trafficking? Hmmm.. Ever stop to think that if it weren't for the drug war, that shit never would exist in the first place???

Tobacco, Alcohol, caffeine, sure, it's ok to use those. But not DRUGS!! Heaven forbid!

Sanctimonious assholes.

Reminds me of Max Payne, a DEA pig who pops "painkillers" every chance he gets.

Please.

Definitly sounds cool and twisted. Be intresting to see how retailers take NARC with its drug uses and all. Hope the soundtrack's good too.

Does it still mainting the ideals of your character being able to get addicted to the drugs? THat was a neat twist, although I wouldn't be surprised if it was scrapped.

I'd be into this for $20, soundtrack or not.

Has anyone else been playing this? I picked it up for $13 used last Tuesday, even though it came out last Monday. Compared to GTA, it sucks, and even compared to Dead to Rights, it still sucks, but for some reason, I can't stop playing it.

pook, it's funny because you and I are playing 2 of the same sucky games right now: N.A.R.C. and Spikeout. I still like N.A.R.C. better, even though I've fallen to street hobo status and had to arrest new criminals a bunch of times to get my rating back up.

As far as the soundtrack goes, it's just the Superfly soundtrack dubbed over the game. I didn't get the CD, but I'd be interested to see if that's all it is.

I haven't seen the game in stores yet, so I'm not actually playing it, but from what I read the only Superfly song it has is "Pusherman" ...

Addiction is in there. We didn't really have enough time to make it a great gameplay element, but it stayed in. There are not a whole lot of uses for using drugs, but they do help in some of the fire fights. If you are going to compare it to a giant budget 50 dollar game then it sucks, but for 20 bucks it is fun. Some of the mini mission are fun and pretty funny. If you get a chance check out the Jumper and sniper mini missions in the US.

Buy the PS2 version if you are going to buy it. The Xbox version was very rushed and is not as tight at the PS2 version.

The boss fight at the end is pretty uninspired, but we didn't have enough time or people to make it awesome.

Here is an entertaining link involving an agry Governor form ILL.

I may have to buy NARC just because I own the arcade game for the original. I remember paying 150 dollars for the arcade game at a pawn shop. My first arcade game...aaaahhhhh the memories. But the new Narc would be a cool addition to my game collection just to compare old and new.

I don't know if they are pushing the fact that Classic Narc is unlockable. If you find all of the hidden stashes (25) in the US, it unlocks the Original Narc arcade game on the title screen.

I'm thinking I'll pick this up soon, even though I havent really heard great things. Looks like simple good fun, and for 20 bucks, why not.

I've been playing this on PS2 and having fun with it, especially the classic Narc and the acrobatics for finding the hidden packages. The missions aren't great, but there have been a couple of fun ones so far like the subway, the jumpers and protecting a surveillance van.

Classic Narc is also fun. Classic 80s kitsch with broad druggie stereotypes. Even though it was freeplay, the last boss was tough because the game makes you start his level over when you die.

I have to admit it's the buggiest game I've played lately, though. Missing and clipped voices and voices that sound like they're coming from a tunnel sometimes, animation errors and one crash. Plus I've had missions where I failed for no obvious reason or I couldn't complete objectives for some random reason. I played the first drug factory mission like seven times before it let me complete it, it didn't even give me a message when I completed the objectives until the last time. I thought my problem was I'd missed destroying some drug equipment so I shot everything in the factory for 10 minutes including fire extinguishers, but when I finally beat it I only had to destroy a small part of it.
