I walked into a little antique store today in my college town I have never been in before today (a little white trashish...but nice) anyhoo there was a lot of antiques nothing much of a gamer interest...but then I saw 4 Activision patches all different shapes, color, and labeling...they read as follows:
1. Megamaniacs
2. Spider Fighter
3. Explorer Club
4. Federation of Laser Blasters
I can't quite remember the pictures on them but I do remember they were old and in great condition (MINT)...the shop was asking ten bucks a piece, anyone have any info at all on these patches...I have never seen them before and I don't really collect atari (if that is what they are from) but I am interested in finding out what they are...are they highly collectable? Sought after? Hard to get? DOES ANYONE WANT THEM haha!!?!?! Just wondering buds

The DP hosts pictures of all of these patches in the Collector's Corner:
http://www.digitpress.com/archives/cc_patches_2600.htm
You can also search for their rarity in the online rarity guide. Do a search under memorabilia for "Activision patch" and you should see them.
They're neat things, and valued by some collectors, but if they're starting at $10 each, you might not be able to sell them for much more than that.

$10 is a decent price but not a bargain. I'll tell you what I would do if I saw those. I'd first try to get a better price for all 4. If the $10 was firm, then I would just buy the Megamaniacs and Explorer's Club patches because those are 2 that I've earned. Then I'd sew them onto my denim jacket and wear them proudly. :)

Yep $10 is about the going rate on those, in fact I have all four of those and I paid less on ebay. ;) But like Keir suggested you might try and make a deal on all of them together. If it were me, I'd offer $20 for the set of four, $5 each, and then if they counter with $30, I'd offer $25 as a final offer. It all just depends on what you want them for. If you are gonna start collecting, then even at the $40, it's not so high you shouldn't buy. But you may could find on ebay for less if you are patient. So you could buy at their price, but I'd try and work a deal, and the lower the better when dealing with junk/antique shops.

I say, pick em up. At worst, you cold sell em on eBay and break even. More likely, though, you'll make a nice profit. Specially if you hagle on the price.
I'll buy the Laser Blast patch off ya!

Besides ebay, those are a bitch to find. I've never even seen one in the wild. After shipping, you'd probably pay more on ebay, so I say buy em.

offer a lower price, if they wont budge just make like your just gonna leave without buying anything.....they probably want to make some $$, so you might have a good chance of getting them for say $20-$25

So ebay is the only place to get these now? I would like to get my hands on some of these, too.
Where is a list of the scores you needed to get to receive the patches?

Hmm
I remember busting my butt to make the commander level on the atari 800 version of Space Shuttle. Then I took two pictures of the TV screen. When I got the pics back they were out of focus and you coudn't tell the wings were there so I never sent it in.

Since we're on the subject, has there ever been any kind of modern equivalent of the Activision patches?

Ok ,I went ahead and bout the 4 activision patches...as I said I don't collect any atari stuff so ihave no use for these...But I heard these were hard to get and a lot of you are after them, so they are up for sale here...I would prefer to sell them all in one lot to avoid numerous shipping costs and such as well as having to try to figure out what to sell each for...So if anyone wants these they are as follows:
Megamaniacs patch
Explorers Club patch
Spider FIghters Patch
Federation of Laser Blasters Patch
I paid 40 + tax for these four (freakin thrift store a-hole) anyhoo anyone can make me an offer, they will simply just go to the highest bidder within the next few days...I don't want these as said before just trying to help all my fellow pack rats....

Ouch, Sore thumb memory.
That reminds me I did beat the score needed for Laser Blaster. But I was so brain numb and my eyes wouldn't stop twitching to the right that I totally forgot to get the camera and then never played the game again.
