O_O

Seems to me the Box is just gaining some real momentum now.

It would be nuts to dilute the sales pool, a la SEGA, IMO.

Then again, we're talking about Microsoft here...

I think that I realized why console manufacuters want to get to the next round now -- it seems that games have been dropping in price lately so that a lot come out for $$20.00 or are discounted there relatively quickly. The early adopter crowd is the ones willing to pay $50.00 for a game and $300 for a system. This brings the profit potential of a great game up much higher. I realize that MS isn't the one who is really profiting from that $50 sale (the company that made the game is), but I can see how companies want to push that cost back up somehow, and they would be happy to develop for a system that would allow that.

Personally, I'll be sticking with my good "old" Xbox and GameCube for the next four years at least. Hell, I showed up to those parties both over two years late and can't play through all the games I've got now!

I should have put this in before but I checked the fine print on the two banners and the poster and it had official Xbox logo and Microsoft copyright print and as far as I could tell looked to be official and not store made or photocopied or whatever.
has anyone else seen this in any other stores of any kind?
If so I really think that the 3 console manufacturers are really jumping the gun on this generation.

they may be very unpleasently surprised with the publics response on trying to push out consoles that still havent reached their respective "limits" technically yet.
Hell most of my friends have just now bought into the current generation with the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube price cuts. x_x

I just got my gamecube less than a month ago, and personally dont see myself buying a next gen system within the next 2-3 years

DUH, it's just gonna be a new smaller version of the current console, chill out!

Sony just came out with the PSTWO, right? This will be the XBOX equivalent.

that would be fine with me Iron Dragon. Since my current Xbox is almost as loud as my DC and the door on it seems to be just a little sloooow sometimes :/

This is a very interesting topic indeed. As much as I would LOVE to see Xbox 2 launch June 1st, I still have a gut feeling it will be the end of this year. I can't wait for E3, so many questions will finally be answered :D

YEah I highly doubt it as ell. Maybe a slimmed down system, but then again e3 is about a month before this so who knows. MS needs to be careful about this, I don't think any system not released around the holidays has done well.

Well, just off the top of my head, the NES got it's nationwide release in early 1986, the SNES was launched un August of 1991, the PSX came out in the States in the middle of 1995, and I'm sure the Game Boy was'nt launched around the holidays either.

But a brand new system so soon with no warning or signs? I'm inclined to agree with the others that a new slimmer model XBox is coming out.

The PSX was launched on 9/9/95. Not exactly the middle of 1995. Not to nitpick or anything, but......

Could you please go back to that store with a digital camera and take a picture of this banner/advertisement?

Also, try to get a closeup on any fine print in the lower corner of the banner.

This is very interesting news, especially for me, because I'm in the process of planning a large GameCenter that would be based around having 51 XBOX systems in there. I'm going to need to order a total of 60 XBOX systems, and if Microsoft is coming out with a new smaller version of the original XBOX, then I might prefer to get those instead.

I guess I'm going to have to wait till e3 anyways, but this affects my GameCenter planning to a degree. In terms of how the GameStations would be setup and constructed.

I don't know, but this pisses me off though.

Xbox is only four years old and it's already as good as dead.

What happened to the old days when a console would last at the very least five years and be pushed to the limit?!

Systems are only as dead as you make them out to be.

Look at this joint......the Dreamcast, N64, NES and all the rest of those dead systems are still breathing around here!!! :D

But yeah, all that these short life spans do is piss off Joe Public. Imagine the parents who proudly gave GB SPs to their kids the previous Christmas....and then found out that there was a new GB DS for Christmas 2004.......and PSP this Christmas.

Until the XboX gets a better range of software, Microsoft can wait until *I* buy another.

It's not a Game Boy DS. It's Nintendo DS. It's a co-runner, not a replacement.
There's still another "game boy" system in the works.

This is taking it a bit off-topic, but have you cleared what you're doing with your lawyers? Maybe I'm just mis-interpreting what you're planning...

Just curious.

Why so bad?

Cuz u just paid mucho $$$ for this "new" system...and you don't feel like spending more mucho $$$ on another system because your current "new" system is "old" after 3.5 years (and therefore looses game support to his newer brother)

Can they still make a lot of GBA games and forget about the DS...please!

I'd like to see screenshots of games and maybe a proto before I decid eif this is real or not.

Buying a X-Box 2 is sorta a hit on the customers, especially the loyal ones who waited till midnight to fiinally get Halo 2.

I want to see what a smaller XB looks like. Any redesign I think would be a great improvement, cause the current one looks like a tank, too bad it's not built like one though.

I definitely will not be buying a new system for a long while. At least 4-5 years.
