View Full Version : There's something about "Body Special 264" (SS)
Around the holidays, I got myself a used copy of "Body Special 264" for the Saturn. I found that the game would just suddenly reset and go to the CD control panel, usually when it was loading something. Figuring there were scratches or dirt, I tried to fix it and ended up ruining it. So, I got myself a new, sealed copy off of eBay. I got it in the mail yesterday, tried it, and it acts up, too. Either my piece-of-crap machine is sensitive (I have to actually tape down the lid to get it to load stuff right, BTW) or there was a defect in the print run. Any ideas?

maybe your CD lid switch is acting up?
you return to the CD screen when you open the CD lid... :eek 2:

Like dj said, sounds like the lid switch isn't getting a good contact.
If you don't hesitate opening your console, you can bend the top of the metal cover around the switch a bit forward to get it working again. I'd give you a pic of it but I can't seem to find it now.

And if it's not that, maybe your laser needs cleaned?
About the lid/lid switch: A few years ago, a certain family member tried doing that swap trick to play imports. He broke the lid, so the machine would always think it's closed. I think it's been acting up ever since then.
As for "Body Special 264," this is the only game I have that's been known to spontaneously reset besides my copy of "Daytona USA". Both copies have acted the same...
But maybe my machine's been defective from the very beginning. One of the first games I got (X-Mas 1997 or so) was "Robotica". After you finished the first level or so, it would get stuck at a black screen. The machine would keep trying to load, however, until it just timed out. I'm pretty sure it was exchanged for another copy and that did the same thing. I've never seen anybody else mention a similar problem.

It's a game where you put together jigsaw puzzles of three Japanese models. There are Movie Puzzles, Puzzle Club puzzles (still photos), and VS. Puzzles (where you play against the computer or another player).

There really isn't a lot of information online about some of the more "adult" games beyond basic, bare-bones info.
I think "Steam Hearts" is the only "hentai shmup" for the Saturn, and most of the nudity and sex was cut out (it only has a "yellow" label). There are games, however, that have actual nudity. You can get an uncensored look at the PCE version here: http://shadatannis.com/shoot/steam/index.html

Green - general consumption including Japanese kids (I said Japanese kids coz with US kids I don't think some of green label are suitable... ?)
Yellow - adult theme (nothing visual though. maybe some panty shot?)
Red - adult situation and tits! no sex scene nor genitals... :D

Well maybe I'll end up getting Steam Hearts for my Saturn anyway someday, but it still pisses me off that they cut some stuff out of it! Sega was always the cool company that never did that shit, and yet they did it for the one game where it mattered the most that they leave it intact! DAMMIT, Sega!

and probably that's why PC Engine release cost more than Saturn... :eek 2:
by the way there's another unofficial label with certain Saturn titles... 18+ or other various names... they usually show real boobs, not anime boobs... :evil:

What "unofficial" label? I have never heard this or come across any 18+ game that was not a "Red" label.

I think what dj898 is referring to are the "ratings" that appear on some games such as MA-18 on Suchie Pai Special, or the "18" ratings on Virtua Photo Studio and Yakyuken Special.

Ture, those games do have kind of a non-standard label. The only one that I know of that isn't a red label, or red labial variant, is Suchi Pai Special's "white" label (very disturbing lack of nipples on all the chracters...). x_x

Ah, REAL BOOBS! Virtual Photo Studio does sound right up my alley! LOL At one time, I never thought I'd ever hear myself say something like that! LOL I know alot of straight guys turn gay after spending most of their lives being straight, I wonder how many gay guys turn straight after spending most of their lives being gay? I know that my best friend did, he even has a kid now.
Anyway, obviously all the money shots were left out of SS Steam Hearts, but how badly was it butchered? Is everything else mostly intact, or is all we get to see a bunch of faces in ecstasy, like the early days of "porn" on cable? I guess I could do without all the money shots if I had to, as long as most of the rest of it was reasonably censored and not overdone to the extreme!

GRRR!!! That's EVIL! I probably won't waste my money on it then. I dunno. I've heard that it's a great shmup even without all the girlies, but still, WTF? Couldn't they have at least made all that stuff accessable by a secret code?

if you are going to spend that amount of Saturn release get PC Engine one instead. It might cost bit more than Saturn but not by large margin... :D

The Playboy Karaoke series is red-labeled and has real boobs, though those aren't really games.
