Is he a regular poster here? If he is I would imagine he would send the game, unless he wants to get booted off of this site, and called a scam artist by everyone.

I hope you get your games. :)

He's from the same city as me and I can see that you are in the US. I can tell you from loads of experience that shipping between Canada and the US routinely takes 2 weeks (more if the item is flagged by customs).

I'd recommend giving him the benefit of the doubt and waiting another week before sounding the alarms.

Do you know if he has gotten his game yet?

I'd like to know what the heck happened to him. I was hoping that he and I could work out a deal for his sealed SNES Titus SOS game, but I didn't have any NES games for trade, just a bunch of other crap. So he said he wanted to wait and see if he got a better offer, because he really didn't wanna take cash for it. No big deal, but it is very disappointing, because I've been trying to locate a sealed SNES Titus SOS game for a long time now. And all I keep finding are sealed SNES Vic Tokai SOS games. But I already have that one. Anyway, I sent him an email, and still have yet to get a reply, so I wonder if he had an unexpected family emergency, or a good reason for disappearing? He was bumping his thread here every day or so, and then he just vanished. So it sounds like he either had something serious come up, or he was just here to scam people. Hopefully it wasn't the latter. Alot of effort for a scam.

If you have something to buy/sell, by all means post it. I'm not *THAT* strict. :) But if you have two things to sell and I see them both ... look out!

EDIT: Looks like he signed up for the forums on Christmas Day 2004, and his last post here was January 5th, 2005, meaning he was an active member of the Digital Press forums for a whopping 12 days, and has no feedback in our feedback forum. I hope anyone who sent him any money did some background checking ...

Well this explains why he was so adamant about trading for what he wanted instead of just accepting Paypal for what we wanted. I thought that it was rather odd that someone would turn down cold hard cash, but I didn't think that much of it. I just wrote it off to quirkiness. I guess it's a good thing that I don't collect for the NES. If I did, then I'd be out a few choice games too. I bet he didn't even have that sealed Titus SOS that he claimed to have.

He also has the frowny faces and the "ONE HIT POINT" moniker given to "bad eggs." If it wasn't in connection to these deals-gone-bad, he's done something else to earn the ire of the DP higher-ups. I daresay you won't see him around these parts again.

Not to be a shithead, but considering that he was such a newb, you should have insisted that he ship first.

Yeah, he hasn't even been "lurking" here. The log shows that his last visit (at least logged in) was Wed Jan 05, 2005 2:25 pm.

This is what the Feedback Forum is for. Start him off with a big fat negative. It drives me crazy when people pull that shit here.

Actually I did meet him once last year. He seemed like a nice guy in person. I traded him a complete Phantasy Star for a complete Final Fantasy.

He's actually been around here longer than 12 days. His original name was the_wizard_666. He even states this in his post in the introduction thread, along with his reason for changing his name.

Unless he's had a serious personal emergency, I don't know what else to say.

I got the feeling that he had been here a long time too. I'd like to hope that he just had a major emergency come up, although I hate to wish that on anyone. I know that these things happen when you least expect them sometimes, and usually at the most inopportune times, but that's still very little consolation for those who already sent out their trades. I suppose that's one major flaw of the internet. I wish that I had enough money to launch a major website. It seems that one could make alot of money if one were to set up a service to act as a go-between for people trading things, just by charging a small fee for the service. Wouldn't that work well here?

You'd think it'd work well, but I presume you'd have to at least pay the person shipping (for them to re-send it) and also if you had another small fee then that would be even more. :/

Well I'm not sure what the rules are for forwarding mail, but I would think that it wouldn't be too expensive to send stuff to the go-between and have them forward it to its final destination after both party's items had arrived as promised. So that would basically be what you'd be paying the fee for, to have someone else recieve the items for trade, hold them until the trades from both sides arrived, then forward them to each respective party, and of course they'd keep track of who's supposed to be sending what and who's supposed to be receiving what. I would think that most people wouldn't mind paying a little extra for a service like that, just to have the peace of mind that they aren't gonna get ripped off if the other party doesn't deliver as promised. In that case, the go-between would just send the goods back to the original sender, and they'd only be out the small fee for the service. I would totally do this myself, if I had the means to do it, but unfortunately I'm just an idea man, I'm not a money mogul yet. It sure sounds like a great business idea to me though! I may try to see if I can get a loan to set it up. I'm in a fairly central location between both coasts, which would be ideal.

Don't they have escrow services like that?
