Right, I mean if you've got no way to get ahold of a game and you want to try it, I think emulation is a good option (it's how I play all those imports!)

And come on, guys, don't be hipocrits. We all use MAME at the very least.

Hey, I got rid of all my old consoles years ago, just play the games on a emulator and my uber PC and use real controllers. ;) Hell of a lot easier, cheaper, and better, since you have save states and things like that.

I have been using emulation for years mostly to try games I want to buy. Yes, some games I play that I will never buy (arcade Mame games mostly), but emulation is a great source for testing the odd TG16 or NES game to see how it is before you buy it. I love emulation, but I also love having a real collection.
