Was the Add On CD unit for A1200 ever released?

I had an a1200 years ago.......I seemed to recall at least seeing photos for an add-on drive to allow an A1200 access to the CD32 library, often delayed and over priced, was it ever officially released?

Could it play games requiring the CD32 AKIKO chip?

I don't believe it was officially released (and if it was, it was in a small quanity). There's other drives that would work in the PCMCIA slot of the the A1200, or you can just get the 4 way IDE adapter and hook up a standard CDROM to your 1200.
