I hope this hasn't been posted yet and if it has I didn't see it.
Check this site out!

This guy is remaking OOT into 2-D. It is so incredible to me! I didn't believe it until I saw it. I don't know how hard it is for this guy to do this but just seeing ALL those familar screen shots and places from OOT from N64 in 2-D just blows me away.
Make sure and check out all the thumbnails and such. There is even some demo's you can download and try out. Havne't done that yet but plan too today later.
I want to hear everybody else's opinions about this!

Hrm, I had heard this guy was forced by Nintendo to stop developing it... I guess it was just a rumor then.
It'd be cool if Nintendo had him develop it for the GBA and then released it.

You mean, take a page of history (Ms. Pac-Man was commissioned by Bally/Midway after General Computing Corp. was caught selling Pac-Man enhancement boards... GCC also ended up creating the Atari 7800 and making several Atari 5200 games.)

That would be interesting, in fact... if only Nintendo saw it in that light instead of the "stop them!" mentality.

If anything, Nintendo should get out their notebook and start writing down some ideas...and hire him as well! The project is awsome, and I look forward to seeing it done. Companies should f-ing realize that 2-D is not dead and that SOME games are just naturally better in 2-D. (Not to say that the 3-D Zeldas were bad, they were really good.)

Exactly, about the writing down some ideas and they should hire him as well!
It just blows me away seeing my fav. game of all time in 2-D form!

Yeah, I heard about this guy's project quite some time ago. I saw his first few screens and he had a download where you could just walk around a small section of game. I remember thinking back then that it would make a fantastic Game Boy game! They should hire him on!

But, again with the negative. They probably just wanted to be the ones to do it.

He's a genius and a visionary, he knows what we'd like to see in 2D form. Kudos to that man.

I don't think he can. He can't really sell what he's doing since it's copyrighted. Now, if the finished project can be made compatable with an NES emulator, then I'm sure it can be slapped on a disc for play on the Dreamcast. If he dosen't do it, I'm sure somebody will.

Though, isn't there some sort of a third party CD periphrial for the N64? I'm sure it could also be made for that. Or maybe the flash card for the Game Boy I could swear I've heard about somewhere.

Wow !!! X_x

I have never seen this before, but it looks awesome! I love how the first boss looks. That would be rad if someone could put this on a cart and make it possible to play on a SNES.

Yeah this project has been around for a few years now. Pops up in a thread like this about every 4 months.

It is an awesome project, but it really is a huge effort to complete something like this, especially by one man. Porting to GBA would not be feasible, not enough buttons. Would be really awesome if he found a way to reconfig the control scheme though.

Oh yeah, and if he could sell it he would make a fortune. Too bad he would get his ass sued off by Nintendo if he did that!
But I mean all in all, it's pretty much a brand new Zelda game, so hell yes he would make some serious MONEY!

Cool, though.

This was just featured in the latest issue of EGM with an article "back to the beginning" In addition to the 2d Zelda they also talked about other 2D efforts.

2D Halo
http://consoletroopers.com/

2D Metroid Prime
http://mp2d.co.uk/

2D Half Life
http://halflife2d.com/

I hope this shows developers that people are still really interested in 2D gaming.

I played a little bit of Codename: Gordon. The art style is alright and I laughed at some of the "cutscenes," but it controls like ass and the framerate is garbage.

It might be old news for most of you but I hear of this for the first time. I adore this idea of making 3d games 2d. I'd love to play Ocarina Of Time in 2d. I got on the N64 but was disappointed about the whole console and Zelda in 3d (not because it was a bad game but because I couldn't get used to in 3d an still refuse to do so) and sold everything. Think I'll have to get that EGM issue...

Im going to definately give Zelda:OOT 2D a try \m/

another dissapointment, That SquareEnix stoped the Crono Trigger Ressurection team. The game was near done... and even had a booth at E3. The game looked awesome, that team did almost a perfect transistion from 2-D to 3-D ChronoTrigger. Sad to see it go, was suppose to be out this year for XBOX, GC, and PC.

You can get the trailers and see the screen shots:
CronoTrigger Resurection (http://www.opcoder.com/projects/chrono/)
Magus looks awesome!
