No, I am pretty sure it went offline a couple years ago, although I could be wrong. Since you just got the system, you might want to check these games out:

Rayman 2
Soul Calibur
Skies of Arcadia

They are some of the best games on the system.

There are a few games that can still be played online - namely, Quake III Arena and F355 Challenge (I believe). Also, PSO and PSO ver.2 can be played online through the use of a cheat device.

There are one or two pirate servers for PSO v. II, however you need a BBA to be able to get into them. No idea about much more information beyond that.

Most official game servers went offline around 2002 if I recall correctly. However, some of the more popular Dreamcast games may still be played online over independently administered servers.

They aren't really "pirate" servers considering that they do the exact same things the Sega servers did, but they were only put up because Sega's servers went offline.

Last I heard, there were still about five games that had servers up -- the only one I remember offhand is StarLancer (?) or something to that extent. The only problem is that finding someone to play with on one of the servers is pretty much impossible now.

All of the Sega servers were taken offline, so you have to look for third party games to find servers now.

Hey, good question. I had been wondering this too!
If I remember right though, I read something like about 1.5-2 years ago the official SEGA servers stopped.

this doesn't necessarily have to do with online play, but..

of course, you can still browse the web using the web browsers, provided you have a dialup account. works as a good backup if your computer goes kaput :)

Do I need a dial up service to play games? Or is that just for web browsing

So you can still go browse the web through the DC? COOL!
