Metal Slug 3D - Yay or Uh oh?

I cant decide if the 3D-ness is gonna kill off Metal Slug, or kick ass...
Anyone have any ideas or views?

Metal Slug was never "just another 2D game" to me, but now it looks like it's going to be "just another 3D game". I'm reminded of the PSX Contra games.

Metal slugs beauty laid in the unbelievably detailed animation of every sprite. What we now have here is a game that now looks like a hundred other generic boring 3d shooters. :angry:

I will reserve judgement till this game is out. Play magazine covered this game a couple months ago. Well, they mentioned it anyway. Hopefully this game will be better than the previous Metal Slugs.

uninspired levels, typical Playmore 3D crap fest, this looks like more of a fan made game than an actual licensed game, but hey, its Playmore here were talking about,

It would be for sure. it's my hope with every sequel that it will be better than all previous titles in a particular series. Gotta stay positive! It's too bad Treasure isn't handling this game.

As far as I know, it may end up being a good game, but it WON'T be Metal Slug. This is the type of situation where changing the perspective entirely changes the gameplay. If they wanted to make a 3D Metal Slug that sidescrolls like Goemon's Great Adventure, then it would still roughly play like a Metal Slug title, but this definitely won't.

I'm glad they are at least keeping the style superdeformed, it therefore looks at least SLIGHTLY different from the crowd of generic games it's being compared to. It's gonna be hard to say though, it's scary, but you never know...

That screenshot was one of the very first batch (dunno if there's been more since) out around...October.

Definitely thinking "uh oh," myself, but I do like 3D games. I'll have to try it sometime.

Im not sure about this seems to me Metal Slug simply is not meant to be a 3-D game.
although I did like NEO-Contra so I guess itll be a wait and see for me.

I have like a few games that went from 2-D to 3-D, like Castlevania 64, Super Mario 64, Sonic Adventure. You can never tell, i used to hate Castlevania 64, until i played it. I will try metal slug, just for the sake its a 3-d shmup :D

This is the second or third time there's been a topic about this, I think.

Anyway, Like I've said, We can't judge the game until it comes out. And If they take an Fast-paced, insane number of enemies route like the Gungrave games, then It could be a lot of fun.

I'm hoping for the best.
