I like Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom. I think a sequel involving croutons and ranch dressing is in order.

Ore No Ryouri PSX Import. It's on the 2000 Summer version of Jampack I think. Sort of think as Parappa the Rappa as a chef.

I can't decide between Food Fight, Pressure Cooker, Burgertime or Panic Restaurant. :(

Anyone here ever play Bandai's Hamburger Shop? Yeah it's crappy B&W LCD, but it's pretty unique. Basically you're a waitress and a guy places an order w/ a balloon dialogue box which shows you what he wants via icons. So he can order a burger, fries, and drink and it only flashes for a second. Then you have to go to the respective chef's window and get the items for him. If you get the order wrong then you lose a life. Overall, a pretty nifty and challenging food based game! :)

Excellent resurrection.

I'd pick Burgertime first but I LOVE Activision's Pressure Cooker and even Piece o' Cake by US Games for Atari 2600.

i'm going with food fight. speaking as a chef i should seek out and collect these games, did the food genre die with the classics era? what post-NES games let you play with or as foodstuffs?

theres the import mentioned above

i know of an iron chef game, although its more a video tour than a game

i can think of a few games that have scenes in kitchens like the knife throwing chefs in MOH-RS and the last wolfenstien game. aside from that the all important world of food seems neglected in gaming, pity cause theres lots of action potential. surely the japanese must have some noodle shop game?

Hmmm... Mr. Do! would be my favorite. Perhaps not entirely food-based, but since foodstuffs play such an integral role in play mechanics (cherries for score and level completion, apples to kill enemies, treats to stop the action and get EXTRA lives), I think that would be the best.

Otherwise, Pressure Cooker, Fast Food, Burgertime, Food Fight, (BUDWEISER!) Tapper, hell it's hard to find a food based game that ISN'T good.

Except for Peter Pepper's Ice Cream Factory. Yuck!

Food Fight for me. It's Robotron:2084. But in the kitchen. Or something like that.

Burgertime for the Intellivision. It kills all other home console versions (especially the NES one with it's excruciating difficulty ramp. However, I've never come across a Pressure Cooker cart in all my hunting days so I have yet to try that game out.

Honourable mention goes to Food Fight for the 7800.

Princess Tomato was my initial response, but how could I not mention Panic Restaurant. A very underrated game that is extremely fun to play, and pretty hard to find.

Agreed. But, I must say, I enjoy the N64 and PSX versions much better than the originial Harvest Moon.

Another outstanding early 90's somewhat obscure food based game was Pig Out. Remember that?

So many levels, each with individual quirks to them.

Basically you are one of up to 3 pigs who must first get food, then collect jars of jam while avoiding wolves and a butcher.

So many food items, with a wonderful sense of humor throughout. Great game.

Harvest Moon: Back to Nature, followed by Pressure Cooker. Harvest moon is just an awsome game. It's funny to try to describe it to people who havent played it, especially non-gamers. It always comes off sounding like the most pointless game ever.

I guess Parappa The Rapper 2 kinda counts since it's all about noodles and candy? If so, I definitely vote that, I've played it through 3 times and I got it in February. :D

I also love love love Harvest Moon for the Gamecube.

Burgertime (I prefer the NES version), and Yoshi's Cookie.

River City Ransom is probably the first game I ever played with a food oriented side of things.

My favourite, if not that would be Kitchen Panic for PlayStation. A nice Yoshi's Island clone in a culinary/kitchen type setting with the main character being a potato if I'm not mistaken.

E.V.O - The Search for Eden (SNES) you eat meat right throughout that game. Also Tazmania for SNES is a good one too the whole game is about chasing down some grub.

Burgertime (Arcade)
Burgertime Deluxe (Gameboy)
Charlie Chuck's Food Fight (Arcade)
Pressure Cooker (Atari 2600) (love that theme song!)

Gauntlet (Arcade) (Always seems VERY predisposed to tell you how BADLY your characters NEED FOOD)

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Zombie Ninja Pro-Am (PS2) (they're food!)

And the Burger King XBOX 360 games get an honorable mention, for being one of the coolest "happy-meal" type toys ever.

Tapper if beverage games count for the fast paced action. No real depth but a blast to play at the bar with some friends.

If it's food only then Burgertime!
