i thought this might be a good idea for a thread to keep some more action going over here. when you get a new proto you can brag about it here! i'll start. i got the CHEATA proto for genesis not too long ago, and this morning a BIN'd the toy story genesis proto. both from ebay. so what have you got recently?

About a month ago I got around 20 5200 protos from an ex-Atari employee. Many of them are of unreleased games (nothing new) and several are different versions. Very cool stuff. I just need to go through them all and add them to my page. Busy busy busy...

I saw that Cheata cart on Ebay and it looked like a hack job to me. Is it a legit proto from what you can tell?

I had to fly all the way to Las Vegas for them, and they're split between two good friends of mine, but there were several unreleased games in that batch, which spanned many different systems, as you can see. I'm quite proud of the find.

its not a game, its an art tool. my guess is that a guy named chuck made it to make art for a game. i think its legit. can anybody else verify it for me though?

It's looks legit to me. Both of my copies of it came from a Sega developer on development boards plus an extra copy in a mass of eproms from the same person but I see no reason that the program couldn't have been put in a regular case. Open it up and check out the board if you want to be sure.

i just got the cheata proto in the mail, and i opened it. its on a developer board with eproms in 2 of the 4 spots. :)

My brag would be getting a "normal" Spiritual Warfare cart from my brother for my birthday, turned out to be a prototype cart with tons of changes from the released game.

Just FYI Kaine - those aren't prototypes. They're reproductions OF prototypes.

I just recieved 18 or so 2600 prototypes the other day. Most of them are WIP prototypes (some more interesting than others), and one is a previously unknown unreleased game by Atari (I checked the DP guide twice!). More on this proto later...
BTW I'll have it on display at PC4. Hopefully by then I'll have figured out how to play it! All I'll say right now is that it appears to be a puzzle game and fairly complete.

I get modern protos fairly often BUT....
