i used to LOVE this game back in the day, but after digging it out of my library to give it another go on sunday after not having played the NES version in years...how did the controls slip by QA? LOL

the jumping mechanics are terrible - the hit detection on walls and platforms is terribly inconsistent, and sometimes non-existent...as well as hiryu's reaction to getting hit by bullets or while jumping. sometimes, nothing happens. other times, you're thrown back half a screen.

i mean, this kind of stuff is par for the course/part of the learning curve for a lot of titles from this era, but this is capcom we're talking about... ;)

I always remember looking at Strider as an incomplete game. It just didn't feel like it was totally finished, particularly with the anomalies you mentioned. It unfairly added to the challenge factor. Triangle jumping was an absolute nightmare.

I still love it, glitches or not. :)

as do i...it just had atmosphere in spades.

the only 2 games that trump it in that department are the arcade version and the original metroid, IMO...
