Roughly what would a cart only of this game be worth? I know that complete it runs to Hundreds of dollars .. probably $300 - $400. But presumably lack of box and manual would cut a big dint in that value ..

Any suggestions?

I'd say that it's still worth at least half of what it's worth complete. It's only missing the box and the manual, right? Those things typically don't cost very much to obtain, even for rarities. Most of the value is for the game itself. So even without a box or a manual, it should be worth at least $150 - $200 IMO

Nah, I'd place it near $150. You won't likely find a loose box and manual for this game just banging around LOL

Save your money for a complete copy if you want it that way.

hehe ... it's academic really, to be honest. I picked up a loose copy for about $10. I am probably going to sell it to one of the guys who buys a lot of stuff off me, and I wanted to know what a reasonable price would be ...

If I want to play it I'll get the PAL version .. much cheaper, LOL!

Well of course a box and a manual for it wouldn't be very easy to find, and they wouldn't be very cheap if you could find them either, but the game itself is still at least half of the overall package. So yeah, probably closer to the low end of half the going price for a complete copy, but there still may be plenty of people who'd be willing to pay towards the high end of half the going price for a complete copy for it. And I imagine that you're wanting this information because you have one that you're looking to sell, is that correct?

Hmm...NICE! That should put a good bit of change in your pocket. :)

I'm suprised no-one else went for it! It actually works out at about $8 per cart, but I am counting Golden Axe, Zoom and Dynamite Duke as worth next to nothing. But with New Zealand Story, Rockman Mega World (although I suspect it is a pirate) and a Mega Key III, I am still counting my lucky stars that I nobody else bid ... very strange!!

Just one of those things, I guess; there's only so much time for me to dredge up eBay auctions anyhow :P

Someone please tell me what makes a Japanese Virtual Bart different than another? And worth so much more?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Nearly all Japanese Megadrive releases from American companies (Acclaim, Tengen, Virgin, etc...) are exceptionally scarce. Later Sunsoft releases also suffer from this. Probably because the Megadrive was...well, dwarfed by the PC Engine over there, and since American games are largely ignored by the Japanese anyway it didn't make sense for there to be a very large print run. In fact, the rarest Japanese MD game is easily Acclaim's Maximum Carnage (with bargain-bin-in-the-US games Comix Zone and The Ooze not far behind).

I also hear there were legal issues with some Tengen games and they had to be pulled -- I'd love to know more about that, personally.

And just in case anyone was wondering, the Super Famicom version of Virtual Bart is significantly easier to find than the Megadrive version. ;)
