Did Kemco-Seika ever finish developing an NES port of the sequel to Deja Vu? I ask because I posess an old issue of Nintendo Power magazine which features screenshots from the NES prototype.

I am aware that Deja Vu 2 was developed and sold for play on the Gameboy (Bundled with Deja Vu 1) and PC, but I'd like to know what happened with the NES port that I was expecting since I was never able to find it anywhere.

I've often wonderd the same thing. I've always felt that Deja Vu 2 was much harder than 1...maybe they cancelled it because it was too difficult for the average NESer? Just personal opinion, not based on fact. I know Shadowgate sold well, but I wonder if games like Uninvited and Deja Vu sold well. If not, maybe that's why it was scrapped. I do know I only see copies of Uninvited on eBay, but never in the wild.

Since a proto's never popped up, it's hard to say. Maybe Kemco just wanted to focus on SNES.

Hmm.. It seems strange that Kemco-Seika would go to the trouble of developing the prototype of a sequel to Deja Vu if Deja Vu (and possibly The Uninvited) did not sell well. If an NES port of Deja Vu 2 existed but simply wasn't sold, I wonder if anyone managed to emulate the prototype.

I would really like to try an NES version of Deja Vu II specifically so I can hear the game's music. I own the PC port of the game, and although it is graphically astounding, I am disappointed by its lack of music (it features the occasional sound effect, however). Although Deja Vu II may be played on the Gameboy collection of Deja Vu I & II, the Gameboy isn't exactly an ideal system as far as audio capabilities are concerned.

If Deja Vu 2 features music which is even half as great as the music which scored the NES version of Deja Vu, I would impulsively purchase a copy of the game upon finding it.

The music is similar, sometimes the same exactly, but part 1 had better tunes.

I agree, that soundtrack was outstanding and really conveyed a sense of loneliness, perfect for the game's theme.

Trivia: In Shadowgate, by the same company, and very similar in play mechanics, you get a flute where once played, it plays the first notes of the Deja Vu theme.

I got VERY close to completing Deja Vu 2, but at the time gamefaqs didn't say exactly how to complete the GB version, which is NOT identical to the PC version! Poor Ace Harding is inevitably trapped forever last we hooked up!

Didn't Deja Vu II come out with Deja Vu for the GB at some point?

Right, both games were released for the Game Boy Color. Before that, the only US release of the game was for the PC, and that was a little different, as mentioned allready.

Love the Kemo 'horror triliogy' (Shadowgate, Deja Vu, Uninvited), so I really liked this game as well.

I knew a NES port was planned but I forgot it was susposed to come out -- I assume Kemo-Sieka scrapped it due to internal problems.

So what was Deja Vu 2 like compared to the orginial?

How different is it? That's odd...never heard that before.

There were many versions of Shadowgate. There were versions for the old MAC, Amiga, Atari ST, Win3.1/95, NES, GBC, Pocket PC. The only ones that I know definitely had music are the NES, GBC, and Amiga versions. I've never tried the Atari ST or MAC versions, though I own both. Come to think of it, I'm not completely positive the Amiga version has music...pretty sure though.

I went to gamefaqs for the walkthrough.

Basically, you have to leave certain documents in certain desks and get rid of others then get on a train, incriminating those who framed you.
Maybe you had to go to the cops, too. Not 100% sure.
That came close to working, but the GB version had to have some other criteria.

I seem to recall reading that Deja Vu 2 was in fact released in Japan for the Famicom.

I will consult "Fami-Complete" and report back.

Well, what's the word? I'm sure that someone would've bothered to emulate the game if a Famicom port was made.

Anyway, here's a scan I made of the Ace Harding: Lost in Las Vegas prototype, as depicted in volume 45 of Nintendo Power magazine:

*BUMP*

I doubt that the game was ported to the Famicom; I haven't seen one list of NES / Famicom games that cites Deja Vu 2 / Ace Harding: LiLV as a complete game.

Nope, Deja Vu 2 wasn't released for the NES/FC at all. The closest you'll get is the GBC version, at least until a NES prototype is found.
