Got the urge to play around with Code Veronia today, first RE game I've played since RE2 on the N64. Like it so far, but damn the controls are sucky! I know RE4 controls better but I keep finding myself dying during the first zombie attack when you just have the knife cause I can't get stright enough to swipe them.

Anyhow, anyone else get frustrated at first with the RE controls before 4 came out? I aplogize if this topic was asked or talked aobut earlier, hard to find with searching disabled for now.

Wait, you played through RE2 and Code: Veronica is giving you a hard time? Aren't the controls pretty much the same?

Anyway, I was never particularly fond of the controls but when you realize that they're throwing a multitude of cinematic camera angles from every different angle and direction (which is a bigger problem to me), that control scheme is really the only one that would work. It's like controlling an RC car, such that any direction it's facing at the time, your control directions do not change.

Since they went away from the cinematic cameras (THANK YOU) in this game, the controls can go to a more standard control scheme as well.

Switch to control C; pressing R makes you move forward, making it far easier to move and turn at the same time.

RE4 is bliss, they did EVERYTHING correct, the controls are better then halo2 IMO

Last time I played a RE game was RE2 for the N64 a few years ago, that's why I had forgotten the curve with the controls till now.

Heres a tip for the first zombie horde.

RUN!!!! Your not really supposed to fight them with the knife.

Ah, was wondering about that. It's usually a good thing to run - 'specially in RE2's first area, if you just run through you'll get something special :P

Eh I'm one of the people that has NO problems at all with any of the REs controls. It seems lots of people have problems though, and I can't really explain it. The controls just come naturally to me. Maybe your thinking about it too much.
