After years of living in NYC, we FINALLY got some shelves for our room. Actually, they were here all along. The bookcase was out in the hall filled with a bunch of crap. We were fed up with all our stuff being in boxes and stuff, so we cleaned the thing out and brought in our room. It's changed a little since then to accomodate new things, but here's what it looked like when I was done filling it:

http://www.inverteddungeon.com/triacesuperfan/room/topshelves.jpg

Yes, I need to clean the glass. :P The insane glare is from the mirror on the back of it. The top shelf has US PlayStation games with Star Ocean 3's Souffle guarding them. The next shelf has my one long box game (at the time) and our PlayStation Japanese imports. The cast of King of Fighters '97 is guarding those games. :) The third shelf is loaded with books all related to video games. There are a few US guide books there, but most of them are Japanese art books and comics.

http://www.inverteddungeon.com/triacesuperfan/room/bottomshelves.jpg

The second large open shelf has a bunch of loose NES carts (yes, I have a few GameStop stickers to remove still :P ) and some random boxes. The long skinny box is my Japanese Baten Kaitos. The thin shelf below it is the "shelf of valuable crap". I have some N64 Japanese imports there, my Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, a whole bunch of official game soundtracks with most being worth $20-$30 and others worth more like my Star Ocean Perfect Sound Collection worth at least $100. At the end, there are a few Dreamcast games and loose disc games in the soft cases (most of the loose games just have their packaging elsewhere). Finally, the bottom shelf has more comics related to games and all but two of our MVS carts.

Here's our set up at a rather messy moment. We timed the photo just right so Paulie Shore would be on the TV, hehe. :P The Fatal Fury hat is chillin' on the Genesis 1 + Sega CD 2. Below that is my top-loading NES sitting on top of the white Yaffa that holds loose Genesis carts and complete Super Famicom games. Below the TV on the right side are two rows deep of GameCube and PS2 games, three vertical rows deep of SNES carts, and a bunch of SNES, N64, and Game Boy carts in the bottom part. The middle has more US PlayStation games, an opened PS1 controller that I STILL haven't cleaned, and my US PlayStation and Japanese PS2. There's a DVD player on the floor because we haven't incorporated it into the set up yet.

Here's a better look at the stuff on the far left in the previous pic. Our SNES, the consolized MVS with Kyo and Iori duking it out, and the Dreamcast and GameCube. The bottom part (not seen in this photo) has a N64, Genesis 2, and a couple complete Genesis games.

Finally, here's a better look at what Luigi and Wario are doing on top of the TV. ;)

This is just a portion of my collection since it's split up between this house and my mom's house in Washington. I just felt like sharing my new shelves and such, though. :)

My boyfriend consolized that MVS himself, so I guess you could call it a "one of a kind". :P He did write an FAQ on how he did it, though:

http://www.geocities.com/sandman20xx/mvs.html

You could find somebody selling one, but it's a lot more expensive that way and every consolizing job is different. This one is really simple and basic, but it gets the job done.

I'm not sure where the Luigi and Wario came from since we've had them forever. :) My boyfriend seems to think they were bought in Chinatown.

And you can have the KOF figures... over my dead body. :P I think it was about 3 years ago when I bought them on eBay for a few bucks. Despite the fact that they were so cheap, they're actually official SNK products. Same goes for the keychains by the MVS.

As a fellow New Yorker (well, I live in Westchester, but I go to school in Manhattan), I would like to know if you can tell me of some good places to go hunting around here (anywhere in the City or Westchester). I would really appreciate it!

And by the way, AWESOME collection, man!!

EDIT: By hunting, I mean game hunting.

No wonder Luigi not in anymore Mario bros games. After all, it would be pretty hard stomping Goombas and the likes after getting plowed like that by Wario. Poor, poor Luigi :( Anyways, getting back on subject. I really like those mini "King of Fighters" figures you had in the case (kind of takes your eyes off the GH PS games on the top row.;)). Also, what are those manga's you have? Are those all based on Star Ocean?

We didn't get KOF: Maximum Impact. >) I bought the hat on eBay as a Christmas present. If anything, we'll probably get the Japanese version of the game eventually because the English dubbing blows.

Sadly, I don't know of any especially good stores. :( I used to buy a lot of NES carts at my local GameStop, but that's about it. A lot of the PlayStation games were bought way back when Chinatown was actually a decent place to buy games. Another large portion of the games are stuff that I brought over from Washington. And then there's stuff that I buy on eBay. In the last year, I've bought maybe a handful of games here in the city. It just sucks for game shopping, in my opinion. :( When I'm here, I do most of my shopping online, and when I'm visiting folks in Washington, I go on a mad game shopping spree.

Well, I will be replacing that GH Final Fantasy Tactics with an original version very soon. ;)

Yep, almost all Star Ocean comics. Mostly Star Ocean 2, but I also have ones related to the first game and Blue Sphere. Besides that, I have a fair amount of Valkyrie Profile manga (more tri-Ace) and a couple related to the Wonder Project J series (my other obsession).

Nope, I don't. In all honesty, my PSX import collection isn't too thrilling. o_O It's mostly Japanese versions of games that got US releases (purchased before the US releases, of course). These days I only get Japanese exclusives.

Cool stuff. I had to do a double take on one of the pics cause for a second I though the CT soundtrack was actually a sealed copy of the game. Awesome collection of soundtracks too :)

That book case works very well as everything fits nice and neat. The black seems to makes all the colors stand out, though the Playstation games do seem to disappear in there.
I take it you can read Japanese? Boy, That would be extremely convenient for a gamer!
Very nice! The collection and the pics!
