Well, not really, for most people. :D
But, for my wife & I it was fun this past weekend.
Jess' best friend from college lives in Pittsburgh with her husband, a computer geek like many of us, and a PC gamer. We live in Northern NJ. Carlisle is almost exactly midway between us, 3 hours away from each of our homes.
So this past Saturday morning we drove out, and met at the Carlisle Hampton Inn. A couple of adjoining suites, electricity, and high-speed internet - - > all the makings of FUN.
First thing we did upon arrival is rearrange the furniture. (Sheesh, it sounds like the beginning of a Penthouse letter. It wasn't that much fun.)
The rectangular table in one room was moved to the other room and pushed next to the matching table there. The wives, uninterested in videogaming, set up shop in that room, and covered every visible horizontal surface with scrapbook paraphernalia.
Back to the temporary, remote, Room-O'-Doom. We then decided the best wall to game on, and set up the LCD projector on the shelf above the microwave, and the Dreamcast on top of the projector. Connect up the VGA box and the projector, and we were good to go.
A little bit of Crazy Taxi got things started.
A bit later we set up a switch and our two laptops and played a few rounds of Worms World Party. Later in the evening there was some Oddworld (requiring the Playstation be hooked up), Mr. Driller, and a lot more Crazy Taxi. At one point I was concerned I was screaming too loudly in excitement, so I walked to the front desk and asked if anybody was staying in the room next door. Well, there was someone in that room, so I tried to keep it down after that.
While I was in the hall, 4 or 5 guys in cold weather Jets-gear were checking in for the night. (Presumably on their way back from the game in Pittsburgh. Steelers won, of course.) Too bad for them. :)
Sunday AM we woke up and played another hour or so of Crazy Taxi. Afterward came checkout, and lunch, before hitting the road and returning home to reality.
A fun weekend was had by all.
