The Mark of Kri suprised those who bought it with its addictive ultra-violent Disney movie gameplay. ICO suprised those who bought it with incredible atmosphere and visuals.
Tell us what underrated PS2 release is your favorite, and why.

Haven't played Kri, but Ico is definately under rated.

I actually played the Demo to both Kri and Ico, prior to their releases. Kri never impressed me enough to warrant a purchase. Ico stunned me enough that I preordered it (I think I was the only guy to do so at that EB).

Holy crap, that was a hard choice! I love Mark of Kri, but I had to go with Ico. Ico was just very well done. It was great.

I think I'm one of the few fans of Mark of Kri.
Any game that can hold my attention long enough to warrant me beating it,
let alone going back to collect extras, gets my vote.
I have Ico, and although good, I never bothered finishing it.

I don't know, I didn't consider Kri "Ultra-Violent" at all. I've just seen a lot worse. The game bored me too, and it got pretty repetitive.

Ico, on the other hand, was an awesome game. I vote for Ico (I bet that didn't surprise you)

Ico will win.

Worth noting if you're a fan of Mark of Kri:

Rise of the Kasai is the new game that follows Kri. Demos are out in stores as I type this.

I picked ICO, although Kri was a tough competitor.

Wow, this is ironic... I've owned both yet never played either.

I've heard good things about Mark of Kri, but ICO is my favorite PS2 game bar none.

I own both of these games and haven't played either of them yet. With my current back log, I may never get to them either. Its too bad cause I hear they are both great games. Oh well.

First a beef: If everyone says a game is "under-rated", is it really under-rated? Case in point, Ico has an average 91% review score on gamerankings.com - nearly every professional reviewer gave it the highest or just under score in its rating system. Just because it didn't sell well or isn't well known doesn't mean it's under rated.

In any case, Ico didn't hold my interest very long. I liked Mark of Kri though - had some real fun with that one.

I'd say it was underrated by the gaming public. Many people wrote it off without trying it. And I wouldn't doubt the "goat-boy" cover helped steer folks away. :)

I went with Mark of Kri, which is probably why I made this comparison knowing ICO would win. I've gone through the game 3 or 4 times, loving the style and hack and slash of it. Some of those stealth kills never get old.

I played Mark of Kri, and didn't like it much. I've heard many great things about Ico though, so I gotta check it out sooner or later.

I actually did buy a used copy once, but It didn't work and I never bothered to buy a new one.

They are probably my two favorite PS2 games of all time.

ICO is a masterpiece. Wonderful beyond words. I love it.

Kri is a real challenge, but it has a great sense of humor and sense of style. I wanted to get all the unlockables at the end, but I just couldn't do it - those giant arena battles just kicked my butt.

I can't wait for the sequels!

ICO.

I didn't even really LIKE Mark of the Kri. Ico got old after a while, but that doesn't hamper the fact that it was brilliant.

damnit, this one is a hard one since i love both games. i'd have to go with mark of kri on this one. the battle system is very innovative for a hack'n'slash and the varied gameplay, the mix of stealth and fighting, makes it stand out. althgouh ico is still up there. relly, i'd gladly pay the $40 that i did upon its release for it again (you arent selling me a nother copy).

dude that is one hard decision to make. it took me a good 10-20 min to finally decide which one to vote for. but in the end the brutality or the mark of kri finally prevailed \^_^/

Ico is a cool atmospheric game. It's a shame that I own it and haven't played it through yet. I didn't vote though cause I've never played MoK.

I voted Mark of Kri. I still have an unopened copy (that I cant decide whether to play soon) but I rented it awhile back & it was good enough to prompt me to buy it. I also have a demo I can go to anytime.

I got ICO for a pittance & on word of mouth & although I know it's an older title, I wasnt impressed. Actually, a game's age doesnt affect me as I LIKE the older stuff & tend to shun new titles.

I was impressed by the dizzying feeling of being so high up on the walls, walkways, etc but I kept waiting for something...INTERESTING to happen. It's also is one of those games where if you screw something up, you go back & do everything (up to that point) all over again, which to me is just a frustrating waste of time. You could play for an hour & still not get any farther than when you began, & that sucks. I tried getting to the top of a huge rotating wheel no less than SIX times. Plus, at times Yorda was quite responsive, & others it seemed to take forever for her to follow me. I cant count the times I literally yelled at her "OVER HERE, STUPID!!!"

At least the end boss battle wasnt a pain in the ass- I got through it my 2nd try. I'm glad I didnt spend more than $10 on it.
