After gettin that E-Reader card bundle today, i was wondering if any were rare ones or there are any rare ones at all?

The majority of the lot i got are animal crossing ones, 3 pokemon ones (Machop, Machoke and Machamp) and a Man Hole G&W Ecard

So which are the cards to look out for?

If I'm not mistaken, the Super Mario Bros. 3 ones came up a while back as being tough to find.

Later series of Animal Crossing cards might be a wee bit tougher to find, I would think.

Hmmm, any individual cards though?

A couple of uncommon ones are the Air Hockey card (U.S. only - according to the Nintendo website) and the Pokemon EON ticket.

The Air Hockey card is certainly not uncommon in the US....I had an entire box full of the bastards. They were set out as 'free, take one' when the E-Reader first came out. Not many people took one. :P

I remember ordering some VCS games from an online store back then and getting a few of those tossed in. I seriously doubt if they are rare.

I don't see much of *anything* around these days.

Very true. Sisko has a whole box of them. He throws one in for free with most trades. :)

Some of the harder ones for us to get were the bonus cards in the Wal-mart version of Super Mario Advance 4. All games came with 2 cards bundled in, however only the ones sold at Wal-mart around Christmas 2003 (I think it was 2003) got 7 cards instead.

Oh god, the Air Hockey cards.

I've had well over several HUNDRED of these. These things need to be burnt

Animal Crossing Series 1 -- some of the cards are pretty hard to get
(Series 1 is hard to get in general)

Animal Crossing Link -- released in some Nintendo Power issue

Fox Box Kirby Slider Card -- could be kinda hard to get, was released at the Nintendo Who Are You? Mall Tour

Super Mario Advance 4 Super Mario Bros. 3 (or whatever its called) Wal-Mart 7 card edition wasn't hard for me to find, but could have been hard for a lot of people to find

I know nothing about Pokemon cards besides the Eon card, so I don't know about rarity of those

Pokemon Eon Ticket is NOT hard to get -- I got 2 very easily (TRU gave them out for free when you asked for it)

Air Hockey is the MOST COMMON -- I have 9, could have had 900, I just didn't want anymore

The Super Mario Advance 4 Super Mario Bros. 3 Wal*Mart cards are hard to find. I've been looking for those for awhile now.

I think in time most of this e-reader stuff in going to be rare.

I only bought the e-Reader specifically for the Air Hockey game. It's quite enjoyable. I wish they had an Air Hockey 2. I wish they still made e-Reader cards.

I wonder if there's a program to convert roms into e-Reader format or something.. that would be hot.

Instead of burning them, send them to Canada or the UK.

That's an interesting idea, but can it be done? Has anybody tried photocopying an eReader card to see if it'll still scan?

I'm now imagining an eReader homebrew scene... :)

For the record I think there's no question that the cards are going to be on the 'rare' side of things. It doesn't mean they'll be worth anything though if nobody wants to collect 'em in the future!

Hmm the only really super rare kinds of cards are some of the japanese pokemon e-reader promos that were given out at tournaments/campaigns ect...

I don't think any e-cards outside of pokemon cards had the usual rarity markings like the star/diamond/circle but some series had random cards & others had fixed cards. Collecting the us stuff might still be pretty easy compared to the japanese stuff as very few series were released for the e-reader in the us, although like others have already said you may find it hard to track down certain cards/series.

Mario party card-e is one to look out for as that one is a us exclusive so far as it never made it to japan, its a complete deck of cards so once you buy one you have a full set. Don't know how hard that one is to find nowdays.

If you ever decide to dive into the japanese e-cards there is a wealth of stuff to collect for, a lot more series were released in japan than the us. Only problem is apart from the pokemon cards, all the japanese e-reader cards are a nightmare to find online. Here are some of the highlights.

Super mario advance 4: these are probably the best series of cards in my opinion, the extra items & levels that these unlock make these well worth tracking down. There are 2 series of cards, with each series having 50 cards, Unlike the us versions the japanese cards are random in every pack grrrr bloody hard to get them all.

Pikmin puzzle card-e: Strangely enough this was missing from the us version of pikmin 2 for gamecube which is a real shame as these cards unlock 3 different kinds of 2D puzzle games with each card holding a different puzzle level. There are 2 series of cards each with 6 packs per series. The cards in each pack are fixed & each pack has a different design on the front.

F-zero Falcon densetsu card-e: These cards i have yet to find, they unlock extra characters & ships in the gba game plus extra challenges. these cards came in foil booster packs but also in vending machines. There are several exclusive cards that you could only get from the vending machine versions. The cards in the packs were random.

Doubutsu no mori card-e & card e+: These are exactly the same kind of cards as the animal crossing cards in the us. in japan there are 2 different sets of cards & versions of doubutsu no mori.

Doubutsu no mori+
---------------------------
They released 4 series in total of these & they were used with the original e-reader with doubutsu no mori+. Al the cards were random.

Doubutsu no mori e+
-----------------------------
Later on nintendo released the us style e-reader with the link port and released a upgraded version called doubutsu no mori e+ they released 3 more series of cards to use with the new e+ version of doubutsu no mori. All the cards in these series were random making doubutsu no mori one of the hardest to collect for due to the sheer number of cards in total eeeek.

Also other e-cards series released were

Domo kun winter pack
Hamtaro card-e
Rockman EXE card-e
and lots & lots of different pokemon cards (too many to list)

Oh and the hockey card did indeed make it to japan it was given out in the e-reader+ boxed set & the doubutsu no mori e+ boxed set. Heres a pic, also theres a gamw & watch manhole card. & a rockman exe 4 & fzero promo card from coro coro comics.

There was one card, a two-coin card, in the Mario Party set that could only be obtained through GamePro magazine (as far as I know).

i was going to mention the same thing, and yes it was GamePro

but technically it, and over half of the Mario Party-e cards are not considered e-reader cards because they dont have the dot code on them, they are just regular cards

It's actually not. All of the NES games are (or were a month or two ago) available directly from Nintendo's website. They're $5 a pop, so it's not the best price ever, but you can surely get it.

Also in the process of getting complete sealed boxes of mario advance 4 series 1 & 2, as these are getting rarer & rarer in japan as the weeks go by. I love the artwork on the boxes they look excellent.

Now that it has been established that e-Reader cards can in fact be reproduced, is it not only a matter of time before neat, easy-to-use bootleg editions of all cards appear?

Yeah pokemon collosseum did get e-reader cards too, but ill be damned if i can find a single pack. The main problem with japanese e-cards is they are so hard to find in great enough numbers. One day i hope to have full sets of all the japanese e-reader cards, well apart from pokemon as i really dont have enough cash to get every set & promo.

I only have have 2 complete sets so far with every card & promo which are for mario advance 4 & pikmin puzzle card-e

Well after missing out once already on a set of these (damn seller backed out of auction grr) i now have the rarest e-cards you can get.

Mario vs donkey kong card-e were given out in a competition by coro coro comics in japan & were limited to only 1000 sets. I never expected to see another set after missing out the first time.

Heres the cards with the congratulations letter from coro coro.

There was Manhole e-Reader card that was pretty tough to get.
I guess there was the pack-in copy and another different copy only given away at some event.

Can't remember for sure.
