So feedback does pay off on Halo 2 :) I for one am sick of people who have no skill and all they do is the router cheat  I encourage all of you who have been cheated against to have your whole party leave cheating feedback on teams who do this router stand-by cheat.

I hope the BANHAMMER gets dropped again and again and again , ect .....

Great! The last thing I'd like to experience when playing Halo 2 online is the experience of playing Diablo (1) over Battle.net....

Ever play Star Wars: Jedi Outcast? The cool thing about the PC version of that game is that players who're in the same game may democratically vote to kick or ban a person from the game if he/she is obviously cheating, being a troll / crybaby, or resorting to cheap tactics (i.e. camping for extended periords of time).

Wow...

I totally expected to look at that and see something that was as stupid as Half Life 2's forever ban on cheaters. I'm not against being able to cheat in a game, but I am against cheating in an online game with others. I figured that Bungie did something dumb like Valve's "You suck, and if you think you were banned unfairly, it doesn't matter!"

It seems to me that Bungie looked at Half Life 2 and saw how not to handle cheaters (You cheated, but a new game!) and came up with a good solution. I'm actually floored right now by this.

I'm the closest I have ever been to getting Xbox Live, and while I don't have Halo 2 or even like Halo, this is a good step in my mind for the service.

Anyone else have Chessmaster? ;)

I agree that cheating is fine as long as it is offline and doesnt hurt other gamers. Bungie is doing a fine job IMO , but I think the bannings need to continue and people who cheat should have some sort of "Scarlet letter" attached to thier accounts so Xbox live can watch them more closely if they return.

Awesome. Great news indeed. I hope every standby-glitch using bastard I've had the mistfortune of playing against has had their account banned. They don't realize how easy it is to tell you're cheating when you've got EVERY cap/plant/etc. on your team at the end-game screen.

Stats...they're not just for rankings anymore.

But one thing; banning for trivial things like the example "ya'll can just kiss my ass" is a little extreme to me. I don't yell or cuss at other players, but c'mon, a little trash talk should be expected when you play online. I imagine that's a lot of the reason why you're supposed to be 13 or older before you can get on Live. When someone's losing, gets a k.illl on me and decides to talk trash or t-bag my body, sure, I'll retaliate next time I floor 'em. Nothing overly hostile, just a result of the competition. Nothing ban-worthy in my opinion. BUT: screamers, mouth-breathers and people who play loud obnoxious music when they win should meet the banhammer face first.

EDIT: "k.i.l.l." gets changed to "hug and kiss" via a new word filter. C'mon, sure it was funny with WMD's and RGB, but "k.i.l.l." is a word almost universal in video games and causes too much confusion, whether or not someone really hates William Shatner.

Not only that, but your supposed to be 18 or older to buy this game. Definitely a stupid reason to ban people.

But I agree that it's great new they are catching cheaters. Doesn't really matter though, considering I haven't played on LIVE in almost a year. :/

I dont think you should get banned for a little trash talk , however if it becomes to aggressive and you are an ass to everybody then I think you need a time out :P

There is this one guy that I have played 3 times since Halo 2's launch and everytime he has been a real ass. I think his name was : THATAZZSHOT or something like that. Just hearing his voice drives me nuts because all he does is swear and talk shit , even if you beat him x_x

P.S. If that user is here on DP , then :fist: :bad-words:

so... what's the router cheat do?

Half Japanese
01-18-2005, 05:17 PM
The router cheat involves a person with a router that has a standby button. They'll hit standby (or hold it, I'm not sure, I've never done it) and basically they're free to move about the level while everybody else is a sitting duck. Here's a rundown:

- Opposing team can't seem to grab your flag
- Punk ass bitch gets up and hits standby, you lag, unable to do anything
- Punk ass bitch captures the flag without any opposition while everyone else just sits there in a permanent state of lag
*optional*
- Punk ass bitch or his friend plays obnoxious music into his headset

This is very easy to track though, because if you look at stats for each game that person has played, they'll be the one to get the flag captured or plant the bomb every time.

The router cheat can also be used to plant a bomb within moments, or to go wild in a slayer match without the other guys able to kill you.

I've only had one match with a router cheater, and he's one of the guys that got banned LOL

Of course, they learned that from Counter-Strike (AdminMod I think; I'm not sure if there's some form of voting already in there now), which stole it from...I dunno where.

I love the way Bungie does business. They bend over backwards to ensure a high quality product and top notch service afterward and beat their competition to a pulp in that respect, rather than using MS to buy the competition out of the way (blatant shot at EA. EAt shit.)

This in particular had me grinning.

Them what kills you. Stick to the path. Beware of the moon.

What is flag bouncing?

Half Japanese
01-18-2005, 11:21 PM
Flag bouncing is a trick commonly used on Colossus. It's pretty hard to do effectively which is why you don't see it done well often. Basically when you grab the flag, if you aim it right and toss it so that it hits one of the conveyer belts between the two perched bases, you can effectively toss it all the way to the other side, where a teammate can catch it and quickly score. It's not considered cheating, just a hard-to-pull-off trick.

Nicely put LOL

People who do stand by have no skill what so ever ! You can also pull up the game viewer on Bungie and see where the movement of the people who do stand by is not tracked until the turn the stand by off. So if you see them grab the flag and then all of a sudden they are half way across the field then there is a good chance they used stand by

Of course now you have to watch out for the "dummy" glitch as well @_@
If that is done right they can score the flag 3 times in 3 seconds :eek 2:

Dr / Captain: You two should look me up on live. My gamertag is BalloonFi. I'm on a lot so it shouldn't be too hard to miss me. We need to play some team slayer or something. :)

I'm down with some Halo with the guys here if there are still a bunch of us playing. I've settled down playing a lot and now play more or less for fun. Early on, I was really big into getting my clan rolling, but now we've decided we'll never be the best, even though we try and we just try to have a good time with it.

I have two gamertags:

Kaiju Devil (this one expires soon, dunno if I'll keep it or not)

Half Japanese (this one's new, registered it with a 2 mo. trial, I use it more often now)

Add me if you'd like. I'll add you next time I'm on if I remember :D.

I haven't played in almost 2 weeks...partly because I was busy several days, and now that I've gotten the God of Colds, I have no reactions or will to do much of anything but sleep.

And there's so many people who need needlers to the face...

Bungie isnt saying you are going to be banned for saying this, but any negative feedback you recieve because of saying this may result in you getting your account banned. It doesnt mean you are instantly going to but you could.

I never said that Jedi Outcast was the first game to incorporate the voting feature, but thanks for pointing that out. However, I feel that it is wrong of you to suggest that Lucasarts "stole" that idea from the folks responsible for Counter-Strike; there's a difference between incorporating features (especially ones are in demand) and blatantly trying to pass off another's innovations as one's own.

It's about time. Though I've never been cheated by another player in Halo 2, it happens a lot to me in ESPN Football 2K5, it seems whenever I'm right about to win a game the jerk on the other end quits, thus causing the game win to not count and my rankings to stay the same. Maybe Sega can learn something from Bungie.
