Yesterday evening I wanted to play Top Spin with a friend. I did 'linked' game sessions before with the PS2, but we couldn't get Top Spin to work.
Two consoles, one game in each of them (one was the Top Spin/NFL bundle disc), and the two consoles were linked with the official System Link Cable by MS, and in every console one controller.
It just didn't work. I went to "multiplayer,' the next screen offered "System Link" and "Xbox Live,' we did system link, and repeatedly in the following screens it said that Players 2 controller was not connected, and in the end we got stuck because it waited for Player 2 and his controller. I tried to put controllers in all possible ports, if I put two controllers in one system it wa for double matches.
We wanted to play Top Spin in single matches in the gerat working 'down'-view, not in the traditional overhead view. (for that you don't need to link two consoles anyway)....ZILCH. Either I am dumb, or link battles are only possible Xbox Live (that were even more nonsensical), or some other restrictions apply.
BTW, we tried "Links 2004' in link mode, it worked perfectly fine. The instruction manual for Top Spin was of no help at all.
Any hints? What is the problem? Did someone else encounter this problem?
Any help is appreciated, because we really want to play Top Spin in link mode. :)
