2003

On May 7, Infogrames, Inc. officially rebrands its global operations as Atari. All titles published under the Company are now under the Atari brand name. The Company's U.S. operations become Atari, Inc. (formerly Infogrames, Inc.) and its trading symbol on the NASDAQ becomes "ATAR." Although majority shareholder IESA retains its current name and symbol on the Euronext under the code: 5257, all of the Company's worldwide operations are renamed Atari.

Infogrames bought Atari, and then changed their name to Atari. So you both are right. :)

Hasbo sold their gaming division, including Wizards of the Coast and Microrprose, to Infrogrames. Also included in that sale were the rights to Atari games that Hasbro had bought. So when Inforgrames re-organized into Atari, they still had all of Hasbro's properties.

xaer0knight is right. Hasbro still owns WotC (including D&D). What was sold to Infogrames, along with the Atari name and properties, was the console and computer game publishing rights for WotC and Hasbro properties (ie. videogames based on D&D or board games, etc.).

Anyone know how long that agreement is good for, however? I'm sure that Hasbro didn't sell perpetual rights to Infogrames, so there must be an expiration year...

They do own a lot!

I dont know if there Hasbro Interactive was sold off but i know that they publish things for Infogrames/Atari. The only console games that has the Hasbro Interactive Logo, that i can think of, is Glover N64. Mostly looks like a merger:

These titles join the Company's catalog of product which includes the following franchises: In addition, the Company has forged significant relationships with many of the entertainment industry's leading film and television studios and by doing so, has amassed a list of licenses that features some of the world's most popular entertainment properties, including: Dungeons & Dragons. Like its parent company, Atari, Inc. divides its development efforts between internal and external development studios

Buy a dictionary to find out the definition of stable.

Oh I know what the word means. What I don't know is what a stable industry means to *YOU* (or anybody else for that matter). It can be anything: minimum overall sales figures, minimum number of games being sold/produced, a minimum number of new titles versus sequels, etc. Plus any combination. There's no right answer really, just opinions.

Obviously you don't have an opinion of merit along these lines or you wouldn't have bothered with your clever little dictionary line...
