Why is it a midi file? yknow anyone w/ different instruments set could make it sound totally different. It outta be a straight recording.

You heard it here first folks. NE1 has volunteered to record, digitize, and post all future DP Mystery Sounds! Personally, I don't have the equipment or the resources (not to mention a game library that big where I can cherry pick what game from which era and on which system or arcade machine.) But if you do, be my guest! Thanks!

aww come on. I didn't volunteer to do shit :P But I will say it's as easy as getting a pc mic, starting up Windows Sound Recorder and holding up the mic to a speaker ;)
It won't exactly be great sound, but hey.. it'll get the job done LOL
How did you get it in midi format anyway? That's actually a lot more effort :hmm:

Case in point.. I dont have a puckman machine, Nor do I have any equipment (I'm here at the office and found a mic in my coworkers drawer).. And yeah you can't get any more ghetto then mic to speaker from an emulator. but hey! :)
crappy but sufficient pacman wav (http://www.users.uswest.net/~userid946/pacman.wav)

Well, yet another DP Mystery Sound contest comes to a close. This month's winner was Andre Berube who correctly identified the oh-so-very-very-easy sound as the opening theme of Castlevania for the NES. This month, we got ** 73 ** correct entries, making this one of our most-entered Mystery Contests.
(But don't think it was a cakewalk for everyone. I also got guesses of Ghosts -N- Ghouls, Super Mario Bros. 3, Chiller, Michael Jackson's Moonwalk :hmm: , and other way-off-the-mark guesses.)
Andre wins the prize of 5 still-sealed, never opened packs of Topp's Nintendo NES GamePak Trading cards. (Stickers, scratch-off games, and more goodies in every pack!) Congrats to Andre, and stay tuned! Another contest will be posted very soon!
