I read on the net that a beta Black Tiger has been known for NES, but never finished. If anyone knows where I could get the ROM I'd be most appreciative. My friend looooooooves this game for the arcade. Thanks.

None exist, sorry. Unless it's being held in secret, nobody even knows of a cartridge in existence. And, you know, I like to think I keep on top of that stuff.

It's not non-existant.. a lot of places mention it on the net.. some people even have claimed to have the beta ROM. I just have yet to see if they have an email address I can contact them.

Whoops, didn't read the part where "places" and "some people" on the net "mention" it! It must exist. How wrong we were.

The aunt of a guy who's a friend of my cousin's once tried to dry her poodle in the microwave.
Bubble Yum bubble gum is also made out of spider eggs. And did you hear that Mikey of the Life Cereal commercials was killed in Vietnam? Or did he die of drinking Coke and eating Pop Rocks? I always get that one mixed up.
The lesson here is that "The proof is in the puddin'." Give us a link to this info or some other proof of your "facts," or we listen to our resident experts , ie, TheRedEye.

Oh. Wow. I guess my years of research have gone to waste, then, if I failed to notice the many many places on the net that obviously have the game. Wow, I must be a total idiot. Would you mind linking us to these many, many pages, or perhaps naming some of these "people?" Maybe this dying old gaming detective has one final case left in him, and can find you an email address.

Whats up with all this attitude here? Strange..
But you got to know, many people lie about having stuff.
I remember back in the days when a classmate claimed he had leisure suit larry 5. I even snail mailed Sierra (no inet for me back then) and got reply that they never made a leisure suit larry 5, they skipped right from 4 to 6.
It was just a joke Sierra replied.
If some people say they have things and you are in doubt, always ask for proof. If they cant give it, its most likely that they are bullshitting you :\

Hehe first of all everyone can make mistakes. Second, its out there somewhere most likely. If no collector have it im pretty sure the developer(s) have a cartridge with this game.

What I meant is.. I'm not giving up hope. There used to be a video game store around here that posted monthly lists of games and prices (sort of like Funcoland, but an indie store). They listed Black Tiger. I forget the price since it's been so long.
http://cheats.ign.com/objects/007/007384.html -- but that's not the only place I heard about beta's.. I'll go back through my links later.

In my experience, there's about a 90% chance that developers do NOT have copies of their unreleased games.

It doesnt matter anyway hehe. Its so to say impossible to get it anyway :)
There was a beta NES game sold on Ebay some months ago.
This game never made final and was only beta. The ROM didnt even exist. A previous version ROM exist tho, but the one sold on Ebay was a newer version. I dont remember the title on the game, but it was some kinda adventure/rpg game, looked alittle like Solstice.
It was sold for around $400

Yes, i say so ;P
Atleast thats what the auction said and i did a search for it. Didnt find it.
My point was that eventho a game never made it to final it might still exist.

Yes, I know, I sold it. It was Hero Quest, based on a pretty cool old board game.

Oh yeah! The game isn't too terrible, either. I played the ROM when I first heard about it - good times.
btw if anybody has an extra of those JAMMA > NES converters, please lemme know! I've got a Mega Tech cartridge that I need to play somehow...xD

I'd like to think in my 10+ years on the net, scouring newsgroups, messageboards, auction sites, etc. that if there was any clue on the whereabouts of a Black Tiger NES cart, I would have uncovered it. I've been wanting this game since seeing that single screenshot in that Game Players mag many years ago.
I actually emailed the guy on WorldofNintendo.com about that game ending he submitted for it and never got a reply. The guy who posted the Black Tiger "ending", Kartune, also posted one other NES ending:
http://www.world-of-nintendo.com/game_endings/nes/elevator_action.shtml
This Kartune guy is either (1) full of shit or (2) owns the only known copy of Black Tiger in existence. Thanks to his faux ending for Elevator Action, my guess is that he is full of shit.
There's always hope something like this could surface, like hoping the Donkey Kong Jr. Music Famicom cart might appear, or even something like Ultimate Journey by Bandai, but the more time that goes by seems to dull the expectations of finding these things. It seems like protos are discovered in spurts, and there hasn't been a good spurt in awhile.
Some old lady will eventually clean out her attic and eBay some lost shit.
