Hey Guys,

Went for my interview for a job @ rareware this rainy, cold afternoon..

There was a 30 minute technical test which needed to be completed to progress to a 10-15 minute video'd interview..

The test was compiled by rareware and it was extremely difficult.. there were three sections, the first section was absolutely easy, any gamer worth his salt would of got most of these right..

It was multiple choice, mainly acronyms in computing e.g. what does BSP stand for... (binary space partitioned) and gaming terms like that.. and even "which came first" a) half life b) doom c) banjo kazooie etc... four answers for each..

The second section was an ULTRA hard maths section.. I could hardly answer any of these.. and most of the stuff we havn't been taught at university..

The third section wasn't too bad, it was just some more detailed questions.. and some code to look at, analyse and then a bit of debugging...

There were 20 of us in the room.. you needed to pass sections 1 and 2. Pass mark was 50% for each...

2 out of the 20 in the room passed... they called two people out.. then just said to us.... "you people in here didnt make it.."

I'm pretty gutted, even though I knew it was going to be really hard..

Best game developer in the UK...? :(

Damn man, sorry about not getting the job. But that test sounds really hard, thank god all the jobs I apply for only ask for a application to be filled out. LOL
I don't know why they would ask you extremely hard Math questions, what position were you applying for?
Keep your head up though, there are other game jobs out there that are waiting for you! ;)

Well, if their hiring process is that strict, it's easy to see why they put out quality games. It's unfortunate you didn't make it, but hopefully you'll have plenty of other opportunities.

Sorry to hear that but at least you now know where to aim at. :) You wouldn't remember any of the math questions? Algorithms, vectors, cryptology? Tell me, please. :)

Yeah, that's the bright side for us as gamers. At least they have very high standards.

Too bad you didn't get it, though, chaoticjelly. :( Perhaps you should study and practice and try again someday? :)

That's exactly was I was thinking.. wow. It reminded me of someone's blog that I read a while back where he went into detail of the hiring process for Microsoft - it was CRAZY.
