Damn this thing scared me in a "gaming" way!
As a few of you may know, im trying to repair my saturn, my saturn and snes are both on scart leads, both connected to the same scart block.
When the Saturn is turned on, the SNES turns on too EVEN WITHOUT A POWER SUPPLY! @_@ @_@ @_@ @_@ @_@
I took a video of this as i know it sounds too crazy too be true! Showing the power on both of them, and the fact there is no power supply in the SNES whatsoever!

(sorry if the web host is slow....)
I cant see any reason for this and its damn creepy!

the link works fine.
Look, don't get all fluffy because of that, as you can see, http://www.gamesx.com/avpinouts/snesav.htm on that link it describes that it has a 5 volt pin, wich, i'm sure, has to be included in scart connections, so the saturn outputs the 5 volts thru it, so it powers the snes (the power switch only lets the 5v go thru, but if the 5v get thru another side, it skips the switch).
So i'm assuming you have a system selector right? Also, if you can test the snes, it won't have enough power to play anything, it's just about a .2 A or something like that.
I hope i made myself clear.

sorry, i had to sign it xD
EDIT: BTW, you can see something similar on the gba, connect it to a parallel port (handles the 5v fine) and try to send something, then turn it off. The charge light will light up dim, and you won't be able to turn on the system until you disconnect the plug.

Its not on a selector, a plain scart block which uses the scart which has the system on. So i cant really tell if it works with a game

well, if it's a block then it's all direct connections wich prooves what i'm saying is true.

There was similar topic posted a while ago, involving a Gamecube instead of the SNES though, can't find it though D: I've gotten small electrical shocks from accidently touching cables/ports of powered consoles several times already (the ethernet port of the Xbox is especially bad :P), so it seems rather probable that something like this could happen.

Freaky, dude. I've never actually seen that happen... Unlike composite and RF connectors, which you can daisy chain together, from what I've heard, Scart cannot be done this way and a selector box is necessary (or just connect each system as you need them). I've never even seen one of the boxes you speak of. Do you have pics of it? Best thing to do until you get a selector box is just unplug the unused systems. It's probably totally safe, but why risk it?

weird. any chance that you were part of the Blair Witch Project, that camera style seems very familiar...

It's true: soniko_karuto is on fire with this one.
I had the same problem, especially with SNES, GC and DC. It's why the simple switchless SCART blocks are crap.
The voltage needed to switch the TV to RGB/4:3 and 16:9 is outputted to all the inputs as well as the output. You could cut the traces and solder a diode to each of the voltage inputs but you will still lose some picture quality. Get a block with a switch, they're pretty cheap.
Nice camerawork btw. :)

i had to quote it so that ulala doesn't mess with my mind. Yeah, i just watched the video, and it does seem like part of that team. I'm sure he's off the movie industry.
