I recently made a deal for a trade to get an N-GAGE with a bunch of games and other things. Among these, there is a program--an unlocked "SmartMovie" convertor. Does anyone have any experience with this program, and if so, how is it? Would it be worth converting something like episodes of Strangers With Candy to watch on my new N-GAGE?

Thumbs up from me. Video and sound quality are good. Make sure you get the compression tool for the PC with the trade!

I compressed all of the GI Joe PSAs onto my N-Gage, ready for a good laugh at any time.

I use Nokia Multimedia Converter to convert music video's to watch on my Ngage...

The quality is bearable. That's all I will say. That's all I can say really, because there isn't really a way I can explain it to you unless you try it yourself.

I seem to find that the image is watchable, but you have to hold it at least two feet away for you not to notice the grainy picture... At a distance it looks fine though.

And the sound quality isn't upto much either, although does the job adequately.

If all you want to do is fill a void on a longish bus / train journey, then it's fine, but if you like things to be perfect then you'll be disappointed.

Try going to the Nokia site and looking for "Nokia Multimedia Converter" - It's really easy to use. Give it a try and see for yourself. It only works on certain file types though. Quicktime and common Window's Media files mainly.

(By the way - I have successfully managed to convert a few *Adult* movies to my Ngage! Lol!)

I think the video quality is really good. Most of it depends on the quality of the source file. You know what they say: "garbage in, grainy video out". Or something.

It's the sound quality that seems to suffer the most, but for portable viewing you really can't beat it. As I've mentioned before, I've been able to squeeze half-hour episodes of Starcade down to 11mb. That's a lot of Starcade for the road :D

And then I guess it all depends on the quality you choose to convert it down to... Naturally you can choose a higher quality, but the file size will be larger...

The sound isn't too bad if turned down fairly low, but after halfway it tends to get distorted a bit.

And yeah, I know what you mean by crap in, crap out... Picture quality isn't really noticeable too much as the screen is quite tiny.

It also depends how much you want to squeeze onto a card, and how big your card is in the first place...

I use "SmartMovie". It's not bad at all. The quality is actually pretty good compared to alot of other things
