my SUPER FAMICOM only cost me 20.00 shipped from eBay. The average is 30-50 for one. So why would you pay 157 for a cheapo converter?

only on eBay.

Damn, I wish I had gotten that much for my converters. :P I'll never understand why people pay so much for something totally unnecessary. I guess there's a lot of people out there who really don't want to remove those tiny plastic tabs. I didn't want to at first myself, but I got over that really quick, haha. One of them was a trade, but if I was to put a value to it and add it to the amount I got for selling the other converter, I'd say I got 50-55 bucks out of them. Not too shabby for a couple things I'm not gonna miss at all, and that's less than what we paid for 'em (mine was about $27 but my boyfriend got the other for just a few bucks).

Whatever happened to the hot butter knife and tweezers?

No doubt. I sould start selling a faq on ebay telling people how to cut out the tabs of a snes. I'd only ask for about 100 dollars an e-mail. :P

But the HoneyBee lets you play pal games on a US snes console, even with the tabs taken out. Pal games won't run on an NTSC snes, i'm sure everyone here knows that so thats where the honeyBee comes in handy.

But the Best Converter to get is the Fire (Blaze in japan) Convertor it's solid and i'v never had a problem with it. the only game it can't play is mario RPG, which isn't bad really. ;)

I especially love how you can see the price tag of $45. Makes spending the $150 or so hurt even more. Maybe I'll buy an actual SFC and sell my converter.

Yeah its only on ebay.

Maybe some people like to pay more for there converter. Ya never know.

As Predatorxs mentioned, the converter lets you play PAL games on an NTSC SNES and vice versa. Notice that the auction was in Australia, where we use PAL format and therefore never got great games like Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy III, so unless you have a modded SNES, getting a converter sooner or later is essential. Still, AU$150 is ridiculous! :/

I didn't know the Fire converters were considered to be some of the best; I found one at a pawn shop the other day and sold it on ebay for around AU$35. Damn I wish this buyer had seen my auction! :D

HFS!!!! X_x I picked one of these things up a while ago and I had no idea what it was. After some research here I found out though. I got that and some famicom game the folks eventually informed me was Killer Bees or something like that. Total amount spent $5.00; and I don't even collect NES LOL

DAMN! Maybe I should sell the one that I just bought from another member here! Total cost including shipping, only $25, brand new! Except mine came in a BLUE box! Perhaps I should auction it, provide a link to that auction, and claim that mine is the ULTRA RARE blue box version, which is worth TWICE as much as the PINK box version! ROFLMAO! THANK YOU again, DP! This site just saved me $100! Maybe I should buy some more of those things! I know there's plenty more available for the same low price, so it's time to stock up!

Well I would've done that if I had a spare one that I didn't mind modding, but I prefer to keep the tabs on my SNES and my Game Genie. Besides, the HoneyBee works GREAT, it looks very nice, and it lets me play PAL games! Now I can start shopping for some European imports that I want. Anybody got a spare Terranigma lying around that they wanna sell me for cheap? ;) Hey, speaking of Terranigma, they could've bought a sealed one for that!

Guess it depends on the value of the money and what country you live in. I just used a money calculator with todays value and got 130 US dollars.

Does anyone know if the Super 8 plays PAL games? I never tried it on mine because I don't have any PAL games...recently sold my Terranigma before I got the Super 8.

XE.com rocks, that's what I use too. Also, if you need a real good translator:

http://www.worldlingo.com/en/products_services/worldlingo_translator.html

This is the one that I use now, and it's much better than BabelFish. It isn't perfect either, but it's much more intelligible, and most importantly it can translate Japanese. So until Google's translator finally supports Japanese, this is the best tool there is for navigating Japanese websites and auctions, etc.
