Good move there...bid on something you cant buy. Then why would you bid???

Prepare for a negative...unless you negociate something but you get what you deserve. You understand that right? Sorry to be harsh.

Not to be mean, but why would you bid on an item you might not be able to afford? As the seller above stated "Prepare for a negative".

C'mon people, everyone makes a mistake now and again ...

If you really can't afford it, don't charge it - just email the seller and ask if they would accept it if you paid their listing and final value fees. If they are reasonably understanding then you may be fortunate and get away lightly.

Most people will be happy to resolve something like this amicably rather than resorting the negative feedback route .. and covering their costs is the least that you can do. If they can then sell it to the second bidder then all is well ..

be a man and pony up for the auction

I'm guilty of doing that once, although I genuinely thought I had the money available on my Visa. Anyways, what I did is just offer the seller $30 for his trouble. He gets some free money, plus it covers the auction cost. There were no hard feelings.

Well i was hoping someone would outbid me but

So then basically you were just trying to make someone else pay a lot more then they should have had to? :hmm:

Were you shilling for a friend or something?

wow... It seems more and more people these days are bidding on auctions just for the fun of it. I understand that the concept of bidding on an online auction is truly fascinating, and surely bidding on something you can't afford must be a lot of fun, but as stated above, prepare for your first well-deserved negative. :/

Another thing you could've done was "Retract your bid". Why didnt you do that?

I agree with the general concensus here.

Dont be an asshole. Suck it up and pay. If you dont, well, you're an asshole.

Why would you "brag" about something like this in a forum in the first place?

I agree with the above, BE A MAN and take responsibility for your actions. I know that I added you to my blocked bidder list as a precaution, you should all do the same.

As with all of the replies so far, i wont' comment on the bidder's ability to pay. I am just shocked that this set goes for this much. I have seen this set at thrift stores like 3 times when doing my holiday shopping during last Nov-Dec....dang...

God damn people. The minute you see a spot of blood, the pecking party forms. Knock off the feeding frenzy and quit ripping into Charlie. We all make mistakes. I won an auction and didn't pay for it once. Made a mistake. If you can't pay for it, CC, e-mail the seller and see if he's cool. Maybe he'll be OK just giving the runner-up a second chance offer.
