I just got an action replay max evo for my ps2 recently. I was really looking foward to getting it to run emulators etc. On the day it arrived, i was up earlier that usual as i was eager to begin tinkering with it.

But alas, i put it in the machine and nothing,... then "Please insert playstation or Playstation 2 disc" so i began to reset my machine over and over and over again, still the same thing.

I then went out for a bit to calm my nerves then poped on the net to see if i could get any help. I read thorougly through the code junkies faq about the product and it said that some re-booting may be required, but if it persists to contact them, that was a week ago, still nothing. to make matters worse, everytime i try to go to their web forums i get a http 403 error.

I eventaully got it to work ONCE, after literally an hour and a half of re-setting. (i sat there with the ps2 remote just doing it over and over)

So what is the point of this? well first it is to point out how crap code junkies are when it comes to customer service and secondly to warn other out ther about the AR, before spending their hard earned cash on it.

Has anybody else had as much fun as i have with the AR?

Mine works fine, though I did have some issues with creating ROM discs for the Genesis emulator (my woes can be found in another thread in this forum). I do like the unit but it tales a LONG time to boot up and updating codes online takes an excruciatingly long time, even if there are only a few new ones.

I agree - codejunkies support is horrible! I have an action replay for the gamecube - which works fine. I recently got the Evo drive - since it seemed like a fun idea to be able to transfer saves to and from my computer. After I buy the thing, I go to the codejunkies site and look for gamecube saves - nothing. There are 4 catagories under Saves - 2 for xbox, 2 for ps2. No mention that the gamecube version even exists. So I go to gamefaqs, since they have tons of downloadable saves. Problem is the evo drive dosen't accept those saves as valid - onl codejunkies saves which are not there.

The instruction manual says that one can trade saves in the codejunkies forum. But when you go to the forum - it has been closed....

So I emailed them for support 2 weeks ago - no response at all. Needless to say I returned the thing. Quite the crappy company.

I've had no problems either with mine..

P.S.

Digipress, instead of burning disks I used the pen drive, but I quickly got tired of swapping out the games. So I thought about my MP3 player which reads just like a harddrive to my pc...

You see where this is going..

Well that 40 gig hard drive has just about every Gen Rom known to man on it, plus Mame and of course music.

I have both a Action Max Pro Replay and the MAX Drive. Both have worked great for me. Of course, a mistake caused me to lose some data from my PS2 card, but it's my fault and it was'nt that big a deal.

I have both for the PS2, BTW. ;)

What I like doing is downloading codes and saves onto the MAX Drive, and then transfering it to my own memory cards through the Action Max. It allowed me to beat Star Ocean 3, get some heads up in some other older games, and other neat stuff.
