Anybody know what the deal is with the new Earthbound?

I heard that the first two were supposed to be rereleased together on GBA and then the new one was supposed to be released shortly after that but that was like 2 years ago.

There was a thread 2 days ago linking to a place on Nintendo's forums where you could "vote" or express your desire to see this happen.

I just don't understand how they can just report this shit two years years ago and then no updates. Wasn't the whole Mother series massively popular in Japan? I haven't heard any news on their end either. Very annoying.

Earthbound 3 wasn't supposed to be released "Shortly" after the compilation. Itoi said its still coming and that it wouldn't be too much further off a few months ago, so have some faith in the man.

3D Realms or whoever is "making" Duke Nukem Forever still claims that the game is still in production and still claims that it's the best game ever. That game graced the cover of the October 1998 PC Gamer Magazine.

I hope that I see another earthbound by 2010, but I can't see that happening. Not only that, but if it ever does happen it's going to be such a massive letdown. None the less, everytime I see another Earthbound thread I die a little inside :(
