For those who don't know....

Theres gonna be a Sorta Tech Section here at the Digital Press website soon by Soon...I mean by whenever a certain someone gets to helping me set it up here. Basically..I had an idea similar to Joes here...I got mine out first all set to go, and Joe said "Gah! yer stealing my thoughts!" and, asked if I'd like to do it here instead where it could get more of an Audience... and low and behold, ta-dah. ANYWAYS... back on TOPIC.

ANYWAYS.. What are your ideas on it? It'll be a big Knolwedge base...grouped by system that can be searched...be added to and what not.... a LOT like the Technical Restoration Society...expect 100% more Organized.

So What are your views on the idea? REALLY Neat? REALLY Sucky or "Meh, I really don't care"?.

and be sure to make suggestions aswell as to what you'd like to see or be able to do with the tech section....if we can add it or enable it to make life easier on it, we probably will.

What Prompted me to make this? Well. Bordeom...and I'd like to see what the general people here think about it. As I'm VERY Curious.

EDIT:

Difference between this and whats already on DP (aka- The Restoration Society Board)

**The Technical Info is grouped by System. (aka- a Category for every System brand / Type... pretty much a list down on the DP "System List" in the Rarity Guide) The Forum is a Mix Mash.

**Easily more searchable by specific System. The Forum is more General.

**Having Submissions Verified-looked at Before submited by an Admin Team before being Viewable for public viewing.

actually, i got lost, it's kinda vague, and i don't have the attention span nor the capabilities to completely decipher english, but if you mean something like the lawrence is doing on gamesx, hehe, that would be welcome.

I believe you mean go thru the forums and join all the info on how to's and stuff, right?

Isn't this what the technical and restoration society forum is for?

I'm also confused as to the difference between this and the current forum, although I'm sure there must be one or Joe wouldn't have given it the thumbs up.

I have some death-ray schematics... but they require at least 1 ungodly source of evil to rectify the death stream, which unfortunately most people don't have access too.

I think a good addition to a tech section would be gathering people who can do major hacks and mods or build custom PCBs or help in programming a homebrew. Much of this is above the technical level of the average Restoration Forum user.

It would be interesting to get more technical people to come to the forums...people who actually can code in assembly and understand in detail how the consoles we play with work. Prime example: Brian Provinciano. The man is super talented...he can hack hardware, code in assembly, and has a generally awesome knowledge of how electronics hardware works. It would be incredibly cool for people as talented as that to be able to have a place to talk the talk with each other.

It sure would be nice to see more people that are involved in the game making process in the industry join in here, and a technical forum may be a catalyst for that.

The *key* difference between what the Tech and Rest forum is now, and what he is suggesting , is indexed organization.

In sum, a lot of work.

I have my hands full full FULL with moderating it, and at the CGCC (and I have help there), and the growing demands of running OSG full time.

I'm all for indexed organization, and may be able to help in some small way. But I haven't the time to spearhead it.

Those who know me here, should know I try to be generous with what I know, in an effort to thank the community for sharing info with me that I don't know. I am simply aware of my time resources, and while a great ambitious Idea, I can't run it. :/

Go for it!

Hey, there's a sweet idea. DP could use such a thing.

OK I understand now. That sounds like a good idea.
