yea the n-gage is my new favorite system! i seriously dont understand why this thing never got big. True, the ngage games suck, but its got fantastic emulation capabilties. its just beyond me why anyone who uses a cellphone wouldnt get this thing. i just wish there was a way to convice people why this thing is so awesome, in turn maybe sell some more n-gage's and maybe nokia would keep making games.

welcome to the club friend, the Ngage is in my top 3 favorites systems of all time, and for the last time dammit, the games are fucking good. try ashen, super monkey ball, pandemonium, and pathway to glory.

Pathway to Glory really does have a wow factor for me everytime I see the commercial. Wish something like that would come to the GBA.

Still, I'm never going to own a Nokia N-gage though.

So did you buy it straight up, or with one of those phone company deals? I'm also interested in getting one myself, but i'm looking for the cheapest opition.

Glad you enjoy it. Most people are impressed once they find out all it can do. I've had my QD for around 3 months and finally people have calmed down and stopped asking me, "What is that/Is that really a cell phone?" i'd also like to recommend Tomb Raider. The screens a little small but I think the game works extremely well for the system.

i have pandemonium. It's teh suck. No really, i didn't liked it, it's kinda lame, and kinda boring. Also it's a 3 or 4 year remake (not that i don't like remakes) but i didn't liked it.

This "special editions" are promotion for the games - the Asphalt one was given out to german magazines and Pathway to Glory was given out to managers of some electronic stores. You'll find Pathway to Glory on the german ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9397&item=6359782094&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21929&item=5156771623&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=8241&item=5157698202&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

They are even cheaper on ebay than the normal version in stores...

It did not do well because of the price and because all-in-one products are not yet fully accepted by the consumers. Give them (us) some time.

My N-gage is coming in the mail as we speak.. I can't wait :)

I think I'm going to get one of the QD's in May. The phone I have right now is shit and I hate it everyday, but I can't get another one untill May under my contract unless I want to pay full price for it (which I don't have the money for).

I'm glad the QD is cheap as well, it's only $99.99 after a rebate, which is good for a cell phone.

Anyone know how good the reception is on them?

Dun dun duuun...most people don't know how or have the equipment to put emulators on their NGage.

I think, from the shots I've seen, that the FPS Ashen is alright, and here's some other titles that should raise eyebrows among classic gamers:

The King of Fighters Extreme (http://www.n-gage.com/en-R1/games/gamedata/king_of_fighters.htm) (Never mind the Extreme bit, mind LOL )

Xanadu Next (listed on Nokia's release page as March 2005, but it doesn't have a page of its own)! Hmm, I can just imagine what this might be!

I think the games look horrible. I don't know if it's the processor inside that makes them run kind of slow, but I just wasn't impressed at all with the system.

Personal preference. But I've never seen the GBA do some of the stuff the 'Gage does.

And I think the reception is really good. Better than my Nokia 3590, 3100b or my LG G4015. Though my old brick Nokia 5190 beats them all. ;)

well I've wanted one of these for the longest time but it being a phone and all has stopped me from getting it because like most of us who have cell phones I was tied into a contract that prevented me from getting the big discounts. well my conract was finally up and I jumped at the chance to get an N-gage. I got mine on Amazon for $75 with a $200 rebate so I got a N-gage and a check for $125 :) Mine should be here in a few days. I already have 7 games for it. I'm mostly looking forward to playing Tecmo Super Bowl on it though.

I dont know if it is allowed, but could someone post the best link to check out emulators for the QD? BTW Ive had a QD for close to 6 months and I had the original since before it's launch (bonus for managing an EB at the time). Some of the games are ok, I like Ashen, Bomberman, Puyo Pop, and Sonic. Thinking about pocket kingdom, any feedback?

I was an early adoptee of the Nokia N-gage...I bought it for...
drum roll......299.99.
This was TWO WEEKS BEFORE they started to give the two free games with it :( . Anyway, I first bought Sonic N and Tomb Raider. I loved the system's ability to play MP3 files and radio--along with making an MP3 as your ring tone. So...while everyone else had midi's of "Hey Ya" on thier cellphone, I had an MP3 of "The Legend of Zelda Theme" (courtesy of Overclockremix.org) on my phone...and no, "side talkin" never bothered me in the least. For a while, I had a game boy color emu running on the phone--people usually asked me questions about the phone and they were more surprised to see "Super Mario Land" running on a cell-phone.

THEN...almost a year later my power supply port broke--I couldn't charge the battery nor get a replacement. I then decided on getting an Ngage QD and a few more games (it came with Tony Hawk) like Red Faction, Puyo Pop, The Sims' Bustin Loose and Crash Nitro Kart. But I didn't like the QD--it seems very limited. True, cutting out the MP3 player and radio made it cheaper but it eliminarted the multi-purpose that Ngage had. I sold my QD on Ebay--along with all of the games. Out of all the games I owned, The Sims was the best as it provided a quick waste of time and it had pretty good graphics compared to the 3-D-esque titles that sometimes caused motion sickness to try and keep up with everything.

Now...I have a TREO 600...any good emulators out there? I've tried a few but there's always some hang up to getting the installation to work.

Truly sorry but I would rather consume feces than pick up an Ngage and I honestly tried my best in coming up with a bit more mature reply.

and im sure most of the people praising the n-gage would happily tell you to go consume feces.

Indeed. I've had my walkie-taco since Halloween of 2003, and I love the thing. I like sidetalkin myself, it makes me stand out and it has actually caused people to ask what exactly the contraption is. At least 2 people I know got one after I did, and at least 2 others want one.

Now if I could only find a way to get MS Excel to work on it, I could take my collection on the go. 8-)

You know you can still play MP3s on the QD, you just need to buy seperate program (or find someplace to d/l one...) As for the lack of a radio, i say to hell with it. I hate commercial radio so it was no big deal to me.

Well there are alternatives, but I've never tried any of them. Like there's the Quickoffice suite for Series 60 phones for $50 (and it works with Excel files http://www.quickoffice.com/series60/quicksheet.html.

A cheap way might be to just create a text file of the spreadsheet. I've thought about doing this myself, but haven't got around to it. Does anyone else have any experience in this?

I would try the N-Gage site since the dummy card is issued by Nokia. Although I did a quick search on their site and nothing turned up. Maybe send them a email.

I had to go to the mall and buy one from one of the cell phone kiosks (since I'm impatient)... you can also get them for a couple bucks on ebay.

I ended up returning the one I got (partially because it was the older model too). I'll keep hoping someone tries to sell their QD or that my trade thread comes up in spades.

i broke down and bought the taco style one they had at gamestop. boxed, 3 crap games i already had and recharger(no instructions) for $50. not a bad deal. havent played much, tried sonic and it seemed the screen was too small to really see the baddies, though the graphics seemed nice...

ill update when i run through a few more games..
