Hey everyone! Well I recently won this auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8161041043&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT

Today I received the system in the mail. The screen is scratched to hell and back. There's a huge white gash in the middle and smaller scratches all over it. It's not stated anywhere in the auction, so I'm kinda pissed. These are very noticable scratches, so bad that they actually affect gameplay by distracting me.

I really don't feel like buying a new one, or dealling with the seller, so if there are any simple ways to scratches out of the screen please let me know. Thanks guys!

That's interesting...unless my eyes decieve me, the Pocket in the auction doesn't even look scratched. Funny.

Well, it did say this. "Item has been used. May have light scratches on the disc that do not affect play. The book may be marked or dog eared, but no pages are missing. The case or box may have small tears, rips, or dents, and may have sticker residue from a previous store. If a cartridge, the sticker is clean and intact, but may have sun fading or other cosmetic blemish." Still, that's nowhere near the condition described as by CC.

Anyways, I'd like to know as well. While mine only has a few hairline scratches, I put it my pocket once (like what you're supposed to do with a Neo Geo Pocket, heh), and there are a certain few spots where the denim rubbed against the screen.

So, if you can, CC, enjoy it! It's a great system.

Hmm...well I tried a few things I read on the internet. Toothpaste, Vegetable oil, alcohol pads...It seems to have helped a bit. The scratches certainly aren't gone but It's definitely playable now. I really like this system! Gotta buy cardfighters...

A good car polish will work wonders on it also. But it won't take out the deep scratches.

Will car polish work on all old LCD screens? Like on Game Boys, a Game Gear, etc? Because I could make a lot of my old systems look a lot better that way.

Does it cause any sort of permanent damage to use car polish?

It will work on all the portable screens.

I use a more abrasive polish to start with (like a rubbing compound) and then a wax polish to finish it out.

There have been several threads on getting scrathes out of portable console screen lenses before...I don't have the energy to try searching right now, but some of the techniques used some very odd techniques, as I remember. Some were highly effective, if I am remembering correctly. Some kind of strange plastic polishing compound stands out in my mind. Of course, if you can find a spare les to slap on there, that's the best bet. I have seen them available a few times.
